After fifteen minutes, Lily finally finished her shower, ready to start her day. After she cleaned up the bathroom, she took her speaker to the kitchen with her and let her oldies continue to play. 'Imagine,' by John Lennon played in her background while the scent of pinecones filled her house. While constantly looking out the window at the sight of the ocean waves, Lily began to make a bowl of cereal and sat down at her table near the window and began to eat. Lily finished her cereal and without moving an inch, she just stared at her empty bowl not knowing what to do next.
Suddenly, a few knocks hit the door. She jumped and quickly came back to reality. She grabbed her bowl, sat it in the sink, shut her speaker off, then ran to the door. She opened it up and saw Lucy with a backpack, small box, and a giant smile.
"Hey you!" she said excited.
Lily smiled and welcomed her in, "hi Lucy."
"How are you sweetie?" Lucy asked pulling Lily into an unexpected hug.
"I'm doing okay, how about you? How was your flight?"
"That's good," she said setting her box down. "My flight was actually nice. I sat next to child and she was just the cutest thing," she finished explaining happily, as she also took her backpack off.
"That's good. I'm glad," Lily tried to say with emotion.
Lucy then started to put her hair in a ponytail."You alright?" she questioned.
"Just a bit tired," Lily lied. "Uh, need any help?"
"Oh, I have some guys here, You don't have to if you don't want to."
"I don't wanna be rude," Lily said with a smile as she motioned to the door, trying to focus on something. Anything at this point.
"Thank you so much," Lucy smiled. The two walked out the door and saw the truck and the guys slowly loading some things off and onto the curb. The girls approached the truck then Lucy introduced Lily to her people.
"Hey guys, this is Lily, she's the one I'm moving in with. Lily, this is my father, Michael, and my brother, Steve."
"Hello, nice to meet you both."
"You're not a murderer right?" Steve asked.
"I actually am, thought I mentioned that in the ad?" Lily asked confused, while clearly joking.
"Well, my sister didn't mention that but I'm sure she'll be fine. If you kill her, just send me her belongings. I can make a fortune out of it," he whispered the last part.
"Gotcha," Lily winked. Both Michael and Lucy laughed.
"Thank you so much Lily for allowing my daughter to move in with you as she goes to school. If you two need anything, don't hesitate to ask. I will be helping Lucy with rent for the first six months just so she has enough time to build up that rent money."
"Oh of course, she was such a great person from the start. She's super brave for moving out here on her own. I'm glad she's moving in with me." Lily nodded.
Michael smiled and nodded. "Yeah, she is definitely something. Well, let's get this stuff in the house. We got a long trip back," he chuckled a bit.
All four of them then began to unpack the truck and take everything in to Lucy's room and to the living room. About thirty minutes later, everything was inside and all that was left to do was unpack.
