It was starting off as a pretty calm day. School was out for the week for some remodeling they were doing so it was like a mini vacation. You were in the kitchen helping your mom cut vegetables for lunch while she rambled on about how her boss annoys the hell out of her, and the people at work don't appreciate her as much as they should. Keisuke said he took a ride into town for fun with Chifuyu. They left a few hours ago, and he said he'd be back before three or four.
"Rogers is not a fantastic boss. At all. I mean, who does he think he is? Always calling me after work hours to inform me about work! He needs to step down and leave me alone! Mind you, nothing he calls me for is ever important." Your mother went on.
Honestly, listening to her stories was like listening to a teenager rant about someone they hate in their class. Or a terrible teacher. "Maybe he just... wants to get to know you better or something. You know how men are."
She put a hand to her chest and gasped. "I hope he doesn't! I wouldn't be caught dead around somebody like that. He should find someone else to bother. I have children that need attending to, I don't need him all up in my business." She brought the pot to the sink and turned the water on. "Don't ever let a man do that to you Y/N. Boss or not. Show them no mercy!"
"Mom..."
"Nope nope I mean it!" She cut you off and continued to slice up the carrots, leaving the water running in the sink. "Men nowadays think they can just stroll in and say and do whatever they want to women. It's a complex they have. They've always been given everything on a silver platter, it's in history books Y/N!"
If you had a time for every time your mother went off on a tangent about drugs, men, or the police, you'd be rich. "Maybe this is why Keisuke is so adamant on me being within a three foot radius of any guy he's not familiar with."
She smiled and flipped off the water and brought the pot to the stove. "Oh your brother is going to grow up and be one hell of a troublemaker. But he tries, and that's all that matters to me. And then he has his... quirks." She came back to the sink to collect the carrots. "I still don't know how I feel about my child running around the streets of Tokyo. And you know, he still hasn't shown me that motorcycle license yet."
You almost forgot that he pretty much lied by saying it was legal to do at thirteen. But he's been riding those things since he was like twelve. Your mother was furious at the time. With all good reasons as well. "That thing is no joke. It's hell on wheels."
"I can't believe you can stand to ride on the back of it with him either. I'd be scared out of my mind–" Her sentence was cut short by the ringtone of her phone. "I swear if this is Rogers I'm gonna quit." She picked up the phone and read the contact. Her eyebrows lowered at who it was. "I think this might just be worse. Hello?"
You continued washing vegetables while she talked on the phone with whoever it was. Hearing her occasional mutters of disappointment and sighs. She started pacing around the room with the phone wedged between her ear and shoulder. "I understand, so you say this situation was worse?" some more muffled electronic voices from the other end. "Yes yes I'll be there. Thank you." She hung up and placed her phone back down. "I have to go pick up your brother from the station."
