The Move to Stone Town

Misty had bought an extra bag just for the new gear you two had gathered over your small shopping spree. You guys had gotten more food, water, camping supplies and other things than either of you would ever need beyond this trip. Still, you guys were ready to go. After one last night in the hotel you guys were staying in, it was early morning and a dart straight on over to the city's exit and the journey to Stone Town. According to Misty, the walk would take about a week seeing as it would be moving more southbound than anything else.

The first couple of hours were alright. Nothing too big. It was later on as you were slowly going up the hill that it became a very long walk. The added supplies didn't help either as someone had to carry that crap. And after about an hour of slowly going up, your team emerged from their poke balls and elected themselves to assist you in carrying the added gear. After the fifth hour mark, you caved and dropped down to the ground. Misty turned back as she saw you panting.

Misty: Are you ok?

(Y/N): No...just panting and needing a rest because I feel like it. Of course, I'm not ok. Look at me.

Misty: Well excuse me, princess.

Your head jerked to the side as you glared up at her. She rolled her eyes and giggled a little as she walked back over to you and set her own bag down on the ground. She softly patted your head as she began to unpack her bag. You watched her as she got some cooking materials out as your Haunter floated over to her with the new bag of gear and set it down.

Misty: Thank you, Haunter.

Misty patted Haunter on the head as Charmeleon walked over and breathed fire on some sticks and rocks other members of your team had collected since dropping. You just watched as your team began to move around like it was nothing. You turned back to Misty and raised an eyebrow.

(Y/N): You've been planning something like this?

Misty: No. Well, yes. The point is...

You laughed a little as Misty was slowly trying to regain her bearings. You got up and began to unpack your bag as you joined her in making a small camp for the night as the sun was slowly going down. You got some needed supplies together and got the fire going strong. Quickly, you two began to make dinner with one another.

You were pushing some meat around as Misty was pouring out some pokemon food. Once the bowls were filled, she sat down beside you and watched the flames.

(Y/N): Thanks for the setup help.

Misty: Oh yeah. Easy street.

(Y/N): Oh good. Means I can extort you later on for your physical capabilities.

Misty: You mean slavery.

(Y/N): I mean society. Everyone works for the other.

Misty rolled her eyes as you just laughed at your own joke. You cleared your throat a little as you got the food onto the plate. You sighed and relaxed a little as you began to eat your dinner. As you were eating, you glanced over to Misty and saw her slowly getting some food in her system as well. Once you gave yourself a break from eating, you raised a hand to let her know you wanted to talk.

(Y/N): So, these people of yours. What are they like? And how can they help us?

Misty: They are trainers. Like us. Brock's uncle lives up there and can help us out with strategies. You wanted to develop better plans in battle. So, trust me, with the later gym leaders you will want to get those strategies down pat.

(Y/N): Right. I understand. So, what are your ideas on a possible strategy for me?

Misty: Well, you have a Charmeleon, Haunter, Kadabra, Machop, and a Nidoran. Maybe try to get Nidoran to evolve and help be a heavy hitter. Kadabra is good for psychics. But ultimately, you do have a strong team, so if we just plan around different encounters of the future gym leaders, you should be alright.

(Y/N): I still do need to find a water type. Or maybe even a grass type.

Misty: While that is true, I wouldn't stress too much about that.

(Y/N): I would. That could be a good fill-in spot for something like an electric type.

Misty: Don't worry solely about type advantages. While they are a fantastic thing, you can win a pokemon battle through strategy and stronger attacks. Of course, assuming your opponent isn't resistant or immune to the attacks you deal.

You nod in agreement with her before returning back to your food. There wasn't much to really speak about, so you focused on the flames and on your food. You could hear the ground shuffle a little as Misty sat down beside you, almost done with her own food. You looked at her, seeing the flames radiate off of her made you smile slightly. That was until she noticed you looking and looked over at you.

You quickly shifted your eyes over to the flames once she noticed you looking at her. You prayed to some deity that Misty couldn't see the slight blush on your face. Luckily on your life, she didn't seem to notice. You two continued each food in relative silence as you let the fire continue to burn. After about an hour, you rounded up your team and got them into their balls for some much-needed rest.

Once they were in bed, you looked over and saw Misty doing the same thing with her own pokemon. You got up and walked over to her once Staryu was back into her own poke ball. Misty turned back to you and smiled up at you.

Misty: What is it?

(Y/N): Nothing. I'm just...I don't know. Happy you are happy I guess.

Misty: Well considering the fact of how unhappy we were when this journey first started out...yeah. I mean, we both were emotional messes.

(Y/N): Still are to some extent.

You both stayed silent as the fires flickered some more. You sighed a little and stood up and stretched your back a little. You rotated your arms a bit and turned back to Misty. You offered her a hand up and she grabbed it. You pulled her up and smiled at her with a slight nod as well.

(Y/N): So, I shall speak with you in the morning?

Misty: Yeah. I'm going to call it here. Don't forget to put out the fire.

(Y/N): I know. I'm not an idiot.

Misty: Never said you were.

Misty giggled slightly as she walked off and back to her sleeping bag. You sighed and just sat in silence. You just had to think about your life's decisions and what came next. Yeah, you weren't really worried about the future pokemon battles. You were more concerned about the relationship between you and Misty. It wasn't anything wrong with it...it was just...these feelings were getting to you.

There wasn't much to really get off of your chest. You looked back at Misty and let her rest. But you wanted to talk to her about these things. You wanted to tell her what you felt. But...how do you do that when you are in such a mental thunk. It was just a rope of confusing words and feelings and more.

You sighed as you rubbed your head. That shouldn't matter for the time being. Right now, the only thing that matters would be just surviving day after day. And now, it was time. You walked over to your sleeping bag and climbed in bed. You just needed to rest. Tomorrow would be a new day.
