You and Misty slowly awoke early in the morning, you more than her. You barely got enough sleep the night prior, shifting around more and more around your sleeping bag. Hell, it got to the point where Charmeleon had to cuddle up to you just to get you to calm down. Still, it was a nice night as you got the sleep you needed. You yawn a little as you slapped your lips together and slowly awoke. Before you could get a grasp of things around you, your eyes drifted up, and saw Misty doing some more stretches.
Your eyes locked onto her. For some reason. Oh, you knew the reason. You shook your head a little and slowly got out of your sleeping bag. As you did, you softly petted Charmeleon as you got up and twisted your body a little. As you grunted slightly, you heard Misty make a sound that recognized your presence. You turned back to her and saw her smile.
Misty: Morning.
(Y/N): Morning. How did you sleep last night?
Misty: Decently. How about you?
(Y/N): Not well. Barely got any sleep at all.
Misty: I could hear you.
(Y/N): Oh..
Misty: I just woke up a few times throughout the night.
You nodded slightly as she finished her statement. You had no idea if it was true or not but that wasn't the point. Hell, the thoughts already struck back into your brain. You wanted to scream a little until you heard a snap. You cocked your head up as you looked back at Misty.
Misty: Did you hear what I said?
(Y/N): Oh...uh...
Misty: Of course. I was going to say we should get breakfast started.
(Y/N): Oh yeah. We probably should go ahead with that.
Misty rolled her eyes but smiled over at you. She walked over to her bag and pulled out so more food and began to get to work with Charmeleon getting the fire nice and warm for you guys. You guys had some food and decided to head out relatively early. Mostly for time reasons but hey, you weren't complaining all that much. And to be frank, you wanted to get into a proper bed for some time now.
The walk down the hills wasn't nearly as bad. Of course, granted going downhill is always easier than going up, especially now that some of your supplies were now gone thanks to the meals you had. Plus with the added help of your pokemon, this would be easy. It was getting over the next couple of mountains that were going to be a pain. Well, that was the initial thought process but hey, it would be alright..right...maybe...
Rinse and repeat the same process over the next three days as you guys went up and down the mountains over and over again. It was a slow burn but it wasn't terrible. Especially since you went ahead and got started early so now it would be more ground to cover in a single day. Still though, as you guys continued to walk through the realm of the mountains of Kanto, the thoughts and feelings of Misty kept popping up.
It wouldn't matter though, you and Misty arrived at the peak of the final mountain around dusk. Like before you two would lay out your things and got food in your bellies. However, this night was different. As always, you looked into the fire, waiting for yourself to fall to sleep. What stopped you this time was when Misty got up and walked over to you and sat down beside you. When she did, you turned to her in some surprise as she looked over at you.
Misty: What? I need permission to is down now?
You just rolled your eyes and looked back into the fire.
Misty: Ok, so what's up?
(Y/N): I beg your pardon?
Misty: For the past few days, you've seen kinda out of it. So, what's been going on with you?
(Y/N): Nothing. Just getting in the zone for the next gym battle.
Misty: We both know that's not true.
(Y/N): Don't start this crap again.
Misty: Start what?
(Y/N): You know exactly what I mean. The stuff about my state of being. I appreciate it, really I do. But now is not the time for that junk.
Misty: Says you.
You rolled your eyes before looking back at the flames. Before you could be let alone for the night, Misty placed a hand on your shoulder. You glanced back at her and she gave you a smile.
Misty: Don't forget about what happened last time.
(Y/N): Ah..yeah.
Misty: Well?
You stayed silent. Your eyes shifted around, going from the fires and then out to the night sky. That was until Misty placed a hand on your shoulder to pull you back to look at her.
Misty: Well?
(Y/N): It's...easier said than done...and said.
Misty: What?
You got up and stepped away from her. Misty quickly got to her feet too and looked at you.
Misty: (Y/N), seriously what is it?
You stayed quiet. You didn't know how to properly voice this to her. You turned back to her and gave her a face that screamed pain.
Misty: You can tell me.
(Y/N): I...I don't know. I mean, I know. I just don't know how to put it into words.
Misty: Then don't. Show me what you want to say.
You looked at her and sighed a little. You rubbed the back of your neck as you tried to think of a way through all of this.
Misty: Well?
(Y/N): Get off my back about it, alright! It's hard ok! It is very hard and I don't want it to blow up in my face.
Misty: It won't. Trust me. It really won't. Just go ahead and speak your mind and-
(Y/N): I like you...a lot.
That was where it clicked for Misty. She looked at you, almost taking a step back in some minor shock. She pointed to you, trying to get a grasp at what it was you were saying and you gave her a nod of confirmation. She glanced around slightly, trying to figure out what to say next. Frankly, you didn't want her to say anything. You aired your desires, or at least them in base form.
(Y/N): Misty, you don't have to say anything. I know it was stupid of me and-
Misty: What? No, it's perfectly alright. I...It's natural as you know. I...
Misty sighed a little as she went ahead and sat down herself. You sighed a little and pinched the bridge of your nose in frustration. You honestly had no idea what to tell her at this point. You just sighed a little and paced slightly. As you were, Misty turned back to you.
Misty: It's alright, (Y/N).
(Y/N): Is it though? Is it really?
Misty: Yes! It is perfectly alright.
(Y/N): Is it alright in general or to you?
Misty: I don't know. Maybe a little bit of both.
You were taken aback. A little bit of both? You slowly looked at her with some raised eyebrows. She turned to you as well. You both just looked at one another, unsure of what to do next. You two just let the silence of the universe take you both by shock and surprise. You slowly moved closer to her and sat down beside her. Silence still in the air.
(Y/N): So, what now?
Misty: You...you want to try it?
(Y/N): Maybe? I don't know.
Misty: You were the one who admitted to it first.
(Y/N): Fair point.
You two looked at one another. It was Misty you cracked first and gave off a smile. You slowly returned it. Next thing either of you two knew, you were leaning in close to one another and soon your lips connected. You felt a hand on your cheek as you went ahead and kissed Misty. You honestly had no idea what you were doing either. It just kinda happened. But hey, you weren't complaining about it at all.
