Ambrose kept asking me questions while I ate. He made no move to take it away from me or anything. I brushed off the cribs then folded my hands into my lap. I bent my head back down.
“What are your hobbies?” He asked. I didn't look up as I thought. “Reading, I guess?” I whispered. He hummed letting me know that he heard.
“Last question. Where is your safe place?” Ambrose asked. I froze up but relaxed quickly. “Ummm. The library.” I whispered.
Ambrose seems really nice to me. After cleaning the mess we made, he took me to the library. I was buzzing in excitement. For the week, he would take me to the library and we would talk. Nana yelled and hit me.
Ambrose called Nana in the middle of her beating me. She gave me the look to stay quiet. I covered my mouth, holding in my whimpers and cries. “Yes, thank you. I'll drop him off at 5:00 tomorrow afternoon. Thank you again.” Nana said.
I bit my lip hard enough to make it bleed. That night Nana lectured me until she felt tired. I laid in my room thinking about what tomorrow would bring me.
After Nana parked the car, she snapped at me. Telling me to grab my bags. I limped up to the door of the house Ambrose owned. I thought Nana wasn't going to hurt me this morning but I was wrong. Nana glared at me as she knocked on the door.
