I was only in a pair of tight shorts that stopped half way down to my thighs and a cropped shirt. It was a little chilly. But I’m not allowed to put on a jacket.
I stood in the middle of the observing crowd. I met Ambrose’s, my parents, and the boy's eyes. I looked away to greet somebody. Nana called me to her side. She shoved me towards the woods.
I fell to my knees scraping the skin off. I quickly got to my feet and took off running. I found my hiding spot for the night. I knew no one would be able to find me. When the horn sounded for the end of the game, I limped out.
I had twisted my ankle by crossing the stream. I sat on top of a picnic table massaging my ankle. I didn’t notice when mom walked up to me. “Harrison? Why did you return? You shouldn't have come back.” Mom said.
I scrambled backwards out of fear. I quickly looked around. Nana was talking to one of her friends. “She hurts you and makes you do this.” Mom said. I turned my head back to her. Bless the darkness because I was covered in bruises.
“Nana never hurts me. I love to do this. She never makes me do this. Nana said that she is going to send me to college and her friend was going to be my mentor. I missed her. You don’t know Nana like I do, she loves me.” I said.
I quickly limped to Nana. She introduced me to the man she was talking to. Nana left to talk to someone else. I was standing still as he touched me. I closed my eyes when he caressed my cheeks. “You’re so cute, Harrison. Like a little baby.” He told me.
I smiled kindly, keeping my eyes closed. “Thank you sir. You are very kind.” I said. The man kissed me softly. He stuffed a dollar into my short’s waistband. I thanked him once again.
