Ambrose kneeled down in front of me. I turned my head away, not wanting to disrespect him by looking into his face. Ambrose cupped my cheek gently, turning it to him. I closed my eyes tightly.
I refused to disrespect him. He was the only one who was so kind to me. In the years I lived with Nana, no one was as kind as Ambrose. "Harrison, look at me. What's wrong? Are you scared?" He asked. I whimpered softly at his words.
I nodded slightly to answer his last question. "Of who? The boys?" He asked. I nodded again, still keeping my eyes tightly shut. I felt him caress my cheek. I leaned into his touch slightly. "Harrison, can you open your eyes for me?" Ambrose asked.
I shook my head. He sighed disappointedly. I whimpered quietly, hating that I'd disappointed him. "He's very disrespectful. Why did Ambrose take him in?" I heard one of the boy's say.
My eyes snapped open and I stared at Ambrose in fear. He only shushed me, caressing my cheek. I could hear Nana's yelling in my head.
"Harrison, it's okay. Darling, you're okay here." Ambrose cooed. I allowed him to hold both of my forearms. He was really gentle towards me.
I hugged his neck hesitantly. He didn't shove me off of him. He only pulled me closer to him. Ambrose slowly hugged me back. He rubbed up and down my back calmly. I eventually calmed down enough to let go of him.
