Chapter 12
Our friends in Manila welcomed me with a warm hug, different from what I expected, unexpected from the people who I thought hated me. Narealize kong tama si Dylan, the hate was just all in my head, no one really hated me.
"How have you been, hija? It's been a while," Tita Claire asked.
I smiled at her. "I'm doing fine, Tita." The happiness and excitement I'm feeling is really to the moon, masayang-masaya ako para sa kaniya at kay Tito Tyler. After Kim's death, they deserve this, they deserve to be happy again.
I smiled at them warmly, it felt different, the people around me looks the same but they feel different. They changed a lot after a year, they look mature, they look like they're all responsible people now.
Bumaling ako kay Xian at sa asawa nito, they're both smiling at me, mukhang kanina pa hinihintay na sila naman ang balingan ko.
I smiled too. Lumapit ako at agad naman nila akong niyakap.
"How are you, Armie?" Xian smiled at me warmly.
I smiled at him too. "I'm fine, I'm healing."
More than a year after Kim's death and there are already so many changes in him. I heard how he wasted his life after her death, I heard how miserable he was. I couldn't stay with him, I couldn't help him. I was guilty because I couldn't be with him when he needed someone the most. I was guilty because he was always there for me back then but I couldn't do anything for him.
When I found out about Larry, I was relieved. I was a bit jealous but in the end, I slowly understand that she can do better than me.
Now I'm thankful that I did not fight for him further, I'm thankful that I gave up. Because they look so happy, they radiate peace.
I couldn't stop the tears that lingered in the corners of my eyes. Yumuko ako upang hawakan ito. Pumatak ang luha sa kaniyang damit.
"Hi, Kian.." I murmured.
She smiled at me when I looked at her. Agad kong pinunasan ang luha ko.
"I'm sorry.. I'm just happy.."
She smiled and nodded. "I understand, Armie. Pwede mo siyang buhatin."
Umiling ako. "Mamaya na kapag nagising siya."
She nodded.
I don't want to be too emotional.
"Kumain na tayo, nakahanda na ang pagkain." Tita Lorraine, Sean's mother, my father's sister, called from the poolside.
I chuckled. I missed her.
"Namiss kita, Armie, kamusta kana?"
Hindi ko napigilang mapatitig sa kaniya. Her beauty is ageless, parang hindi talaga siya tumatanda.
"I'm fine, Tita. Kayo po, kamusta?"
She smiled. "Heto naghihintay ng apo kay Sean at Samantha."
We giggled together.
