Chapter 17

I woke up early the next day to get ready for the checkup.

Wearing a simple wide leg faded jeans, a white cashmere turtleneck and a white wool overcoat, I went out to the dining area for breakfast.

Right, he's here, and it looks like he's really coming with us, halata iyon dahil pareho silang nakabihis na rin ni Arkin.

"Good morning, how's your sleep?" Arkin asked when I walked closer and he pulled a chair for me.

"Good morning," I tried to smile to look okay. "I'm fine, I'm just a bit anxious."

He sighed. "Don't be nervous, I'll be with you, sasama rin si Dylan."

Our eyes met and I remembered all the things he said last night. He said he regretted that he left me, even when I was the one who told him to leave. It felt like he knows why, even without asking for my reason, it felt like he just found out on his own.

I don't know how he does that.. looking at me and just finding out about the things in my mind. He knew that I was scared. And now I'm thinking that he might have found out about how I feel too.

"Good morning," he greeted and watched me.

Napakurap ako. "G-Good morning."

"Kumain kana.."

Arkin is already done putting food on my plate, it's our usual breakfast – eggs, bacon, pancake and sausages.

Tumango ako bago pinulot ang tinidor. I don't feel hungry, but I know I need to eat so I'll have the energy for today, kaya pinilit ko ang sariling kumain.

It was a bit awkward.

My brother is a chemical engineer, while Dylan is an architectural engineer, I'm not sure of the relation of their work, hindi rin naman nagtagal ay ang family business na ang pinag-uusapan nila.

My family owns the biggest firearm manufacturing company in Korea, called Tayle. Behind it is also an organization that deals with the dark sides of the firearm industry, a part of my family that I'm not very familiar with, a part of my family that Arkin doesn't want me to know.

Dylan's family, the Acostas work in the military science field. To be specific, Dylan's mom, Tita Dianne is a military scientist who works for this country. All I know is that our company is the direct manufacturer of the firearms needed by the army. Ofcourse, I'm also aware of the negative sides of this field but my family has protected me from getting involved in it, kaya wala akong alam at wala na rin akong balak na makialam pa.

"They'll be back next week, before my birthday." Dylan said before he glanced at me.

Napatingin din ako. His birthday? Next week? It's February..
