Chapter 15

"Have you calmed down?" he asked after a long while of silence.

Umatras siya at doon lang ako natauhan na baka basa na ang damit niya dahil sa pag-iyak ko. He looked down on his black wool turtleneck when he saw me looking at it.

"I'm sorry.." I murmured.

He shook his head and looked at me. Pinunasan niya ang pisngi ko at wala akong ibang nagawa kundi titigan siya.

I want to ask him why he's here, how did he know.. He should be at his training now, but he's here with me. At hindi ko alam kung gaano katagal pa si Arkin, is he going to stay here with me until my brother comes back?

"You should go now.. I'll wait for Arkin.." Namamaos pa rin talaga ang boses ko.

He sighed. "I'm not going today, dito lang ako, sasamahan kita.."

Mabilis akong umiling. "Please Dylan.. I don't want to disturb you.."

He shifted on his weight. Hinubad niya ang suot na denim jacket at ipinatong sa balikat ko. "I'm worried. Hindi ko magagawa ang mga dapat kong gawin kahit pa pumasok ako."

I stared at him. Naguguluhan na ako. Gusto ko pa sanang umapila pero naunahan na ako ng pagtunog ng cellphone niya.

He rummaged for his phone on his pocket. Tinignan niya muna ako bago sinagot ang tawag. Kuryoso naman akong napatitig, natatakot na baka marinig ko nanaman kung sino iyon. Nakahinga lang ako nang maluwag nang binanggit niya ang pangalan ng kapatid ko.

"Alright, I'll take care of her. Update me, Arkin.."

He listened for a while and then he nodded and ended the call. I looked at him curiously, knowing that it was my brother.

"What happened?" I asked.

He sighed. "Matatagalan pa siya. I'll take you home."

Mabilis naman akong umiling. "No, please.. I want to stay.. I'll wait.."

I can't even name all the reasons of my fear. Natatakot ako dahil baka kung ano ang magawa ng kapatid ko, knowing what my family can do, knowing how powerful and influential we are.. I'm scared of what might happen. I'm worried for Wendy too, even when I hate what they've done to me, alam kong mali pa rin ang nagawa ko. And I'm scared of what might happen to me.

If my brother won't use all the power and influence of our family, I'm sure I will be expelled, worst is that Wendy's party might file for an assault. I'm scared but I also know that I should face the consequences. Hindi kakayanin ng konsensya ko kung papalusutin lang ito ng university dahil lang sa pamilya ko.

"Let's get you home, Armie, please.." His voice pleads.

"What about Arkin?"

Yumuko siya upang punasan ang panibagong luhang nangilid sa mga mata ko. "He'll take care of this. Now, let me get you home so you can rest."

Matagal akong tumitig sa mga mata niya. He looked at me with a very soft and gentle expression, too different from how he looked when he got here earlier.

Huminga ako nang malalim at sa huli ay tumango na rin. I probably should get home, but I don't think I can rest like what they want, imposibleng makapag-pahinga ako kung ganitong magulo ang isip ko at kinakain ako ng takot.

Dylan stared at me for a while before he moved to put on my seatbelts. Isinara niya ang pintuan sa tabi ko bago umikot para makasakay na rin sa driver's seat. Kahit sa salamin ay hindi siya nagbitiw ng tingin sa akin.

We were both silent on the way home. I'm too occupied with everything that's running in my head that I couldn't say anything despite seeing him looking at me blatantly from time to time.
