09. Club Hell
Olympia
THE ONLY THING KEEPING ME GOING AT THIS CLUB IS MY DEATH GRIP on my virgin juice drink. I don't even know what it is, but the bartender told me that it's virgin. Being almost a year under 21 sucks.
I'm sure some alcohol would be a good kick to move from the bar.
Clubs weren't nor will ever be my scene.
To add to this lovely night Jodene and Delanie had dipped at this point leaving me alone at the bar. I just kept sipping at my drink and keeping my grip tight.
Coming here was a mistake. I never did clubs and the one time I did; I end up getting abandoned at the bar. To make matters worse Delanie had been the one to drive me so I couldn't leave until she leaves.
Which leaves me trapped here.
There would be no way I'd walk home especially at dark. I prefer to not get kidnapped, murdered, or any other horrific thing that happens to women who walk home alone at night. I'd be stuck waiting it out.
I was sipping on my drink when I caught a man out of the corner of my eye walking over to me.
He looked to be fresh out of high school so about a year younger than me. He had brown hair in a fringe style and green eyes. He came over and sat down next to me.
"Dragged to the club by some friends I presume?" His voice was a lot deeper than I imagined.
With his looks I thought it'd be a bit higher, but it was deep.
"Yeah." I murmured taking a sip of my drink.
"Lovely people." He murmured.
I smiled just a little. He didn't seem too bad. I could entertain a conversation with him until it got awkward. I have some confidence that this won't go to bad. Or at least that's what I thought at the time.
"Yeah, they are my friends, but I do want to punch them every now and then. Well one of them is my friend." I murmured and he smiled.
"I'm Reese." He offered his hand out to me.
Couldn't hurt to shake his hand.
"Olympia."
I was a bit surprised on how warm his hand is. He gave me a smile and for a brief moment I felt captured. Unable to move as his thumb slid over the back of my hand. But it lasted a moment before I pulled my hand back.
"Uh, nice to meet you Reese." I murmured.
"Nice to meet you Olympia, pretty name." Reese commented as he watched me.
"Thank you. My mom was eager on mythology and such. She wanted a less common name." I'm not even sure what came over me.
I felt like my body was in a game of tug-of-war. One part wanting to spill everything to Reese, the guy in front of me and the other ready to tuck tail and run.
"That's cute. Greek mythology I presume?" Reese asked.
"Yeah, she's quite into it." I murmured.
"Pretty name for a pretty woman." Reese smiled.
I don't even know where the giggle came from, but I giggled. Reese simply smiled at me.
"I- um-"
"Everything okay?" Reese asked. He gave me a charming smile.
"Um, yeah." And for a moment whatever was happening was broken as I removed my hand from his.
The warm feeling, he induced fuzzed out like a can of soda. Then I had control back as I stared at Reese.
