It was finally Golden Week, the first few days of May. "The practice match against Nekoma takes place in four days. After that, it'll be time for the interhigh prelims. There's no time, and you guys are full of weak spots," Keishin reminded the team as they stood around him and Takeda in a semicircle. "There is only one thing to do in order for you slobs to win. Practice, practice, practice!" His face darkened. "Keep retrieving that ball until you throw up!"
"Hai!" Hinata yelled in response, causing a few people to grimace. The first thing they did was some downball receiving, with Keishin hitting at them for five balls before a new person would come on. "Okay," The coach jumped down from the box. "Next, spike practice! Crow, I want you to set a bit."
"Kay," The ravenette gave a thumbs up. Thus, hitting lines with the two actual setters began.
"Right on!" Tanaka jumped for one of Suga's sets. "Take that!" He hit it nice and hard.
"Nice kill!"
"Nice kill!"
"Ohoho, this is looking real good!" Keishin grinned as he observed before he suddenly scowled. "Crow, stop slacking! You can jump higher than that! Get another tape-ball and you're running around the campus!"
"Wow, don't let that power get to your head Keishin~" Crow rolled his eyes. Soon, Keishin called for the setters to switch, so to everyone's surprise, Kageyama was the one to join the hitting lines as Crow replaced him. Each of his sets were done with care, enough so that each of his spikers felt a jolt when they hit the ball.
After that, the rest of practice flew by, and finally it was time to quit for the day. "Okay, we're moving out!"
"Yes sir!" The team echoed after Daichi. Thus, they headed outside and to the place they would be staying for Golden Week. Hinata gasped on sight.
"So this is the training camp!" He exclaimed, going through and checking each room out with eyes shining with excitement. Crow was worried he might not sleep because of how pumped up the dude was.
"You have got to chill out," Kageyama deadpanned at the ginger.
"I can't help it! I've never done a training camp before!" He defended himself.
"What's so exciting about having a bunch of guys that smell like armpit in your face all day long?" Tsukishima turned up his nose in disgust.
"Might not be for a lot of people," Crow agreed. "But at least there are some of us that enjoy this kind of thing. Besides," He sent a slight smirk at the first year. "I don't really have a sense of smell."
"He gets more and more like an actual crow every time I see him," Suga chuckled with a shake of his head.
"Tsukishima teme!" Tanaka roared, Nishinoya joining him a second later with an equally nasty facial expression.
"All air within a 500m radius of Kiyoko-san does not smell like armpit!"
"Can you not tell that this air in here is as fresh and clear as the Ou Mountain spring?!" The cueball was definitely enjoying it. "I pity you."
"Shimizu lives nearby," Suga ruined the moment. "So she goes home when the day's done."
The vice captain pranced away as the two boys laid on the floor face down in absolute misery. Well done Suga, Crow snickered.
"Ah!" Takeda reeled back a bit when he came out from the kitchen, finding the two second years on the floor looking absolutely ghastly. "Wh-what are you guys doing?"
"Take-chan," Tanaka's face was one out of a horror movie, as was Nishinoya's. They looked like they had been starved or something. "It's hopeless. We're done for..."
But then, Kiyoko walked into their line of sight, almost instantly rejuvenating them. And then it was time to eat.
"Thank you for the food!" Everyone chanted before digging in. Kageyama and Hinata were scarfing it down like it was their first meal in centuries, meanwhile Tanaka and Nishinoya practically inhaled the food.
"Does anyone want seconds?" Kiyoko asked, and instantly the two were in front of her.
"Yes, thank you!" They thrusted their plates out to her, causing her to flinch in surprise before responding.
"Okay."
After dinner, as per the pecking order, everyone took their showers. Crow was the first second year to go, and was the first in bed as well. Golden week was both his favorite and least favorite time, the reason for both was because he got more sleep than usual.
Which also meant he got a lot less done than usual during Golden Week. Most training camps were the same way if they were overnight or anything like that. The next day, they started with more passing drills, and then they went on to running.
"Get moving, moron," Kageyama rolled his eyes at how long it took Hinata to change his shoes.
"Be quiet," He retorted, quickly catching up with the setter with the libero taking up the caboose. Eventually, the setter and middle were competing in trying to go the fastest.
"Hinata! Don't waste your breath shouting! You need that energy for later!" But then suddenly the man was gone with the wind. "Hey! Where are you going?!"
"Aaaaand we've lost our ginger," Crow deadpanned. Thus, the team had to split up to go find the dumbass. Luckily, Suga was the one to find him. If it had been practically anyone else, they would've definitely ripped into him.
Well, he still got ripped into when they all got back, but it worked out. That night at dinner, Kageyama and Hinata were at it once again. "Where do you get that appetite?" Tsukishima was more traumatized than impressed at that point.
"Hey, eat up!" Nishinoya was suddenly behind him. "Force it down if you have to! How do you expect to handle the summer if you're choking right now?!" He demanded. "You're gonna wither up and die!"
"Yamaguchi, not eating that? Can I have it?" Hinata definitely took the libero's words to heart.
"Hey! Let Yamaguchi eat his own food!" Nishinoya had not intended that to be the response to his lecture, it seems. Crow ate quietly, but stuffed himself to the brim before another shower and finally bed.
