I woke up in a unfamiliar bed, in an unfamiliar room. It took me a while to realize where I was and I immediately smiled when I felt arms wrapped around my waist; Martin.

I suddenly felt dizzy once again, like I was about to throw up. I pulled the covers higher on my body and pushed the thoughts away.

I'm okay.

I took a deep breath and started shaking. I was so cold and I felt weird. A terrible sensation that cannot be explained ran through my body as I reopened my eyes, unable to keep them closed due to my sudden lack of fatigue.

I looked at the clock, on which was written 4:38 in white digits.
How is it only 4 a.m.?

I was so tired when I got here and it was about 3:00.

Only an hour and a half?

I slowly stood up, making my way towards the bathroom. I turned the lights on as I entered the gigantic bathroom and slightly closed my eyes, not used to such brightness.

I looked at myself in the mirror and froze.

Never had I looked so pale, so sick, so tired and so bad. It was like my whole face had lost all of its colours, except for underneath my eyes, it had not lost its colour at all. A nice and pretty shade of blue that made it obvious that I was having a rough night.

My hair wasn't exactly curly, nor straight. It was a mixture or both, and it had a lot of volume, accentuating the mascara running down my cheeks.

You could say it, I was a mess.

I grabbed a plastic cup and poured myself a glass of water.

I opened the door to go back in Martin's bed, and closed the lights behind me before being bumped into by someone, making me spill all of my water.

"OhMyGod, you scared the crap out of me," I said, looking up to meet Martin's gaze.

"Why aren't you sleeping?"

"I can't,"

"Why not?"

"I don't know, I-I feel pretty weird and I'm not that tired,"

"You only slept for an hour an half and you were about to pass out when we got here. Is everything okay?" he asked, seeming slightly worried.

"Yeah, everything's fine," I replied, sighing as I rubbed my eyes with my free hand. "I-I just don't feel so good and sleeping isn't working for me right now,"

He nodded, looking down.

"Wait, I want to show you something, maybe it will take your mind off of everything..." he trailed off, scratching the back of his neck.

I nodded and he entertwined his fingers in between my shaky ones, embracing my hand in a warmth that I had been craving for a while.
Small gestures like that calmed me. Martin calmed me.

We got out of the room and slowly made our way towards the end of the hall.
Martin silently pushed a door open, giving me the full view of the staircase and the fluorescent lighting.

"Where are we going?" I asked, as he started leading me up the stairs.
"You'll see," he grinned, not letting go of my hand.

We kept going as the numbers indicating which floor we were on kept growing.

"Why didn't we simply take the elevators?"

"Because the elevators don't lead to the last floor..." he trailed off once again, opening one last door before I could feel the cool winter air against my bare skin.

We were on a roof top.

I slowly made my way across the roof top, slightly shivering as I looked around. The sky was still dark and filled with stars.

I looked up, dazzled by the constellation above our heads, as my breath left mist behind due to the coldness of the air.

I looked around, looking down at the city that was entirely shut down. The lights were mostly off, giving the perfect view of the shining stars. I gazed at the white city underneath me, and at the freshly fallen snow that shined as diamonds under the moon's light. I shivered, pulling at my sleeves to cover my hands.

"Are you cold? Your lips are blue,"

I looked at Martin as I shivered and raised an eyebrow at him, "Oh, I don't know, I must be shivering for no reason at all, uh duh," I replied sarcastically, making him chuckle.

"Aren't you used to cold weather like this?"

"Just because I'm canadian it doesn't mean I can be out in the snow at -30 degrees in just a t-shirt and be comfortable. Like? How come aren't you cold?"

"I don't know," he grinned, taking off his sweater, giving me a hint of what was going to happen next.

"Martin,"

"Yes,"

"That is cheesy. Don't give me your sweater that only happens in movies or in the books I read,"

What are you talking about, you hate reading.
I mentally slapped myself and looked up at Martin, who had an amused expression plastered on his face.

"Like I was going to?" he laughed, making me roll my eyes.

"You just hurt my feelings," I crossed my arms over my chest and faked a frown, as he burst into laughter.
He suddenly stopped laughing and grabbed my shoulders, making direct eye contact.

"Mel, do not become an actress, you suck," he said, bursting into laughter again.

I rolled my eyes and smiled to myself. Why isn't he always like that? Goofy and childish and fun. Sometimes he's way too serious and he can be a real asshole, I like that Martin.

"I'm sorry, I'm just messing with you, here, take it," he threw his sweater in my direction and I instantly caught it.

I don't care how cheesy this is, I am putting on that sweater before I die of hypothermia.

"Come here,"

I followed him to the corner of the roof top, where he sat down on the edge, making me flinch.

"Martin, careful,"

He smirked and dug his hands in his pockets, gesturing me to sit next to him.

"I've done this before, unless you actually try to fall, you won't,"

I slowly sat next to him, feeling my heart sink as I looked at the city underneath my feet. We were so high above the ground, I felt dizzy.

"Are you okay? Really?" he suddenly asked, concerned.

"Yeah, I..." I trailed off, looking down, "I don't know what happened Martin," I said, looking up at him this time,"But whatever happened, I don't think it was an accident. I had blue cups in my locker the day before and I- I don't know why but then there was this guy that tried to r-rape me, and I'm not even sure that has something to do with me being drugged," I was shaking by then, trying to express myself correctly.

Martin's eyes widened, and he quickly looked away, staring at nothing in particular with a blank expression.

"Wh-What's wrong?"

"N-Nothing I..." he said, sighing, "I'm just glad you're okay, that's all,"

Lies.

I can tell when people are lying, and Martin isn't good at it.
