➤ chapter 14 | outsmarting the dogs

Note: I made changes in the previous chapters that [Y/N] doesn't know about Nami working with the Arlong Pirates. I made quite a mistake in that plot. 

"'Stealing would be fun' I said. That was so wrong of me." You sighed while your steps creaks through the wooden floors. After the call, you immediately stood up but not before reassuring to the little boy, Luca that he and the villagers would be saved. It may not be part of the agreement, but abandoning them is so wrong. And you did promise after all, and you tend to uphold that promise.

'So much for playing the "innocent traveler" around here. Say...this is the second time I'm playing hero. Not that I mind though, domestic life has gone quite boring. So glad I don't have to adjust too much in a stricter society.' Reminiscing back that you had to play like a good citizen or woman in some worlds. It wasn't all that bad; it's just gotten to the point it was repetitive and tiring to put up the act.

Shaking your thoughts off, you were hoping that the men you talked on the phone earlier did oblige to your request—Nami is fine and not a single wound is on her body. Or even better, she's still alive. And if she wasn't...well looks like you had to make a lot of mess.

Each step you took was a countdown. The creaking of the floorboards was loud that it might even be heard by the crew. "How did they catch her? I'm sure she's more experienced than I am. And it's weird no one was guarding down the basement especially if they had kidnap people." You pondered.

While at it, you traced back your steps as to where you found the people so that it won't be hard to find them later on.

Slowly and not realizing that you were almost at the top of the stairs towards outside the deck of the ship, the loud noises perked your ears up. You could hear the loud laughter of the crew from outside.

"Only a minute left, a small chance. Better start praying girlie."

"I bet your little friend of yours already abandoned you here."

"This is what you get for messing with us great pirates!"

You deadpanned at their arrogant boasts. 'Great pirates, huh?' You read some books that the Grand Line has stronger pirates that their captain's bounty is even incomparable to the pirates beyond the Grand Line. The thought of meeting some scares yet excites you at the same time. Adding to the list of reasons why you should go to the Grand Line.
