The marines took care of the fire real quick, with the citizens' help along with it. You still continue to look around for Smoker and Loki. You were getting worried every second as flames died down around the docks. The damage was so much that probably around ten to fifteen ships and five docks were burnt, leaving ashes and debris behind.
And speaking of them. Your eyes widened when you both saw them approaching. You got out of the crowd and ran towards them. "LOKI! You're fin—eh?" You were about to hug the cat but were surprised at the scene in front of you. Loki was walking side by side with the marine laughing.
'Laughing?' The cat glanced forward and saw your presence, he greeted casually. "Oh, [Y/N]." He then sat down casually in front of you unbothered by your surprise state.
'Greeted? "W-What's going on?" You stuttered, looking back and forth between them. 'Wait, how can he—'
Smoker took out two cigars and lit them up while he did so, he spoke. "I should be the one asking. I was surprised that Loki is actually a Zoan type."
"Z-Zoan type..." You repeated. As you remember reading it, zoan is one of the three devil fruit types. This type of devil fruit allows a user to transform into an animal species at will, or an inter-species hybrid. 'Play along [Y/N].' You jumped lightly at the sudden telepathic message from your familiar who had a smug grin on his cat face. You glared at him for a bit and then sighed, looking back at the marine who was waiting for your response. It's true that Loki has similar abilities as a zoan type would have. Still, it was a great lie that the familiar could come up with.
"Yes...he's a devil fruit user. I hid it because devil fruit users aren't common around here." You lied.
"Understandable." Smoker muttered.
'You're the first one I see who actually ate a devil fruit!' You cried internally since you wanted to utter that out loud. Your heart fluttered in excitement since you have a million questions to ask about it. Devil fruits are one of the things you wanted to study after all. "What devil fruit do you have?" You clasped your hands together waiting for his answer.
