Not long after Evie was introduced to her mother and father, they took her down to the nursery. Then a nurse led Elliot and Casey to a conference room where they could discuss Olivia's condition.

"Olivia is currently in surgery. We had to stabilize her before we could operate on her. When she is out of surgery, we will keep Olivia in the ICU to ensure we can monitor her." Dr. Stocklin spoke, as sat across from Elliot and Casey.

"What happened?" Casey asked weakly, as tears slipped down her cheeks.

"Olivia hemorrhaged. We got the bleeding to slow a bit, but we are still unsure of where it is coming from. We did an MRI and ultrasound on her, and luckily we didn't find a clot anywhere, so the bleeding is the major problem."

"Is she going to make it?" Elliot asked as he reached over and grabbed Casey's hand. He gave it a tight squeeze and tried to hear everything that Dr. Stocklin was saying.

"I believe she will. We have amazing doctors here that will operate on her. We will try our hardest to ensure she can meet Evie."

"When she's out, can either of us see her?"

"You two need to go home and get some sleep. Come back in a few hours and we will see how Olivia is doing." Dr. Stocklin smiled before she stood and left.

Elliot looked over at Casey before reaching out and brushing a tear from her cheek.

"You don't want to go home, right?"

"I don't want to leave to only have my girlfriend die." Casey whispered, and Elliot nodded.

"Then how about we go up to the nursery and see if we can spot Evie." Elliot smiled.

"You don't have to stay, Elliot. I'm fine." Casey spoke.

"Case, I know Olivia doesn't want to be with me anymore. Unfortunately, I really don't want to accept it but I will. Tonight was scary, and I'm not leaving without knowing if Olivia is going to be okay. You may not want me here, but you may change your mind in the future." Elliot spoke, before letting out a small sigh.

"Elliot-"

"Don't make me fight you on this."

Casey went down to the cafeteria to get something to eat, while Elliot wandered around. Eventually, he found the nursery, and he stood outside and watched Evie from the window.

He couldn't believe that he had another daughter, one that probably would never really get to know him. No matter how helpful he had been, Casey and Olivia were going to raise Evie together and he'd be alone once again.

"You must be Evie's dad." A nurse smiled as she came out of the nursery.

"Yeah, I am." Elliot whispered, as he hesitantly peeled his eyes away from his baby.

"Would you like to hold her? We were informed of her mother's surgery, so Evie hasn't had a ton of human contact yet."

"Olivia's partner should be up here shortly to hold her. I don't think Olivia would want me to bond with the baby."

"If you are her father, you have every right to hold her and love on her. So why don't you go into that adjoining room and you can hold her."

Elliot was hesitant at first, but once Evie was in his arms, he was so glad he agreed. He got to hold his newborn for the first time, and he felt the same way about Evie as he did about the rest of his kids.

All six of his kids were his whole world, even if only one didn't hate him at the moment.

"What are you doing?" Casey whispered as she walked into the room. Elliot had been holding Evie for an hour, and now he realized this was probably the first and last time he'd hold his daughter.

"The nurse said I could hold Evie, and I tried to say no but she-"

"You need to leave, Elliot. Evie is my daughter, not yours. I am going to raise her with Olivia, and you can go back to your fucking hole. Pick someone else over her again." Casey spat, as she reached out to grab Evie, but Elliot smacked her hand away.

"I know it's hard for you to understand that Olivia doesn't want to be with me, but I'm not letting you decide if I can be a part of my daughter's life or not. I gave up my entire life to be here, and I'm not going back to Manhattan any time soon. I will be here to help raise Evie, and Olivia is the only one that can make the decision to kick me out. So calm the fuck down." Elliot snapped as he finally stood up for himself.

"I hope Olivia kicks you out again and you die alone." Casey huffed, before she turned and stomped from the room.

Elliot held Evie for hours. He got to feed her and the nurses let him change her diaper. He was doing everything that Casey wanted to do, but she was too stubborn and bitter to just ask to help.

About noon that day, Dr. Stocklin came to the nursery and brought Casey and Elliot to the ICU. Olivia was still sleeping, but they were finally able to see her.

"The surgeon found a small tear in her uterus that caused the hemorrhage. He could close it, so we have high hopes that Olivia can have more kids in the future. She may be out for days because of the blood loss, but we are hoping she'll wake up shortly."

"Can we sit with her?" Elliot asked.

"The question is if I can sit with her. He's nothing to her." Casey snapped. Elliot swallowed hard as Dr. Stocklin tried to respond to both of them without making things more awkward.

"Olivia needs her rest. I will call you both when she wakes up. Until then, you both need to leave and get some sleep. It's an order."

"You can't-" Casey started.

"Hey, fight me all you want but don't be disrespectful to one of the doctors that saved Olivia's life. We can leave and come back later, once Olivia can tell us what she wants to do." Elliot sighed, before he pulled Casey away from the room as she fought him.
