Evie was released from the hospital a few days after she was admitted. Casey didn't come back to the hospital, but that was only because Olivia promised to contact her when things settled so they could discuss her visiting Evie sometimes. Olivia didn't know if she'd break that promise, but she more so forgot about it.
Casey didn't forget.
"I'm coming!" Olivia called, as she walked down the stairs with Evie on her hip. Evie's seizures had been more mild as of late, and she had her chin restitched at the hospital by a plastic surgeon so she wouldn't have as noticeable of a scar on her chin.
"Mama, who here?" Evie asked, as Olivia neared the front door.
"I don't know honey, I guess we will find out."
Olivia unlocked the front door before opening it quickly. She felt a lump grow in her throat the moment she saw her ex-girlfriend standing there.
"Casey... what are you doing here?" Olivia asked weakly as she remembered their deal.
If Casey left the hospital, Olivia would discuss visitation with Evie. She had talked about sleepovers in the future, but not for a while, and not until Casey had gotten trained to deal with Evie's seizures.
Elliot wasn't happy with what Olivia had said, but he got over it since it worked and Casey hadn't contacted them since.
"You promised to call me and discuss Evie when she was released. But it's been months, and you never called. I just assumed you were busy with Evie and growing another baby, but now I just think you did it on purpose. You are treating me like some crazy person, when I'm not one. I lost a lot, but I didn't lose my mind," Casey spoke. She got more angry as the statement moved forward.
"Casey, I have been busy. Evie is a full-time job, and being pregnant this close to forty hasn't proven easy either. So please, give me-"
"I'm not giving you more time, Olivia! Stop using me! Just talk to me and let me have some time with Evie!" Casey yelled.
Evie whimpered and buried her face into her mother's shoulder, her hand wrapping around a lock of her mother's dark brown hair.
"Casey, you are upsetting not only me, but also Evie Peyton. I don't appreciate your tone and the way you show up whenever you want. So please, either leave right now or change your attitude and talk to me with more respect. It is my child that you want to spend time with," Olivia spoke with a warning tone. She held her daughter closer as Casey swallowed hard.
"I'll be back. I'll go cool down," Casey huffed.
"Put yourself in time out and come back when you don't want to be a raging b-i-t-c-h," Olivia grinned as she shut the door on Casey.
///
Olivia called Elliot and informed him that Casey showed up, but she didn't want him to rush home. She would protect herself and Evie if it came to that, but she didn't think that Casey would hurt her. If she got hurt, there would be hell to pay.
Olivia was out in the backyard with Evie when Casey came back. She had heard Evie giggling from where her mother pushed her on the swings, so she just walked through the gate and into the yard.
"I'm not as angry now, so can we talk?" Casey sighed.
"Are you sure?" Olivia mused, as she moved her eyes to Casey.
"Liv," Casey groaned.
"Okay, I'll lay off. But you are coming here to ask for time with a baby that isn't even yours. So don't be such a jerk about it."
Casey rolled her eyes and walked to where Olivia stood. She looked Olivia over before laying eyes on her stomach.
"Do you know what you are having yet?" Casey asked awkwardly. Olivia shook her head.
"Nope, not yet. Elliot and the kids don't really want to know. They want to be surprised. So we are going to be surprised," Olivia sighed.
"Liv, you don't have to listen to them. It's your body and-"
"Gonna say our baby?" Olivia snapped without being able to stop herself.
"I wish it was, but that won't happen. Now, can we discuss Evie?"
"Yes, we can. But she's going to play on the trampoline, and we can sit and talk. Got it? I don't want her to hear much," Olivia sighed.
They moved from the swing set and to where the trampoline was . The little girl climbed on and started to bounce as Olivia and Casey sat on a bench outside of it.
"She's so big," Casey breathed.
"Yeah, she is. She's finally gaining weight normally, and her seizures haven't been nearly as bad as before... they think that as her brain develops, she may have less and less seizures. But I am not too hopeful."
"How much time are you and Elliot willing to give me with her? Like a few days a week or-"
"Case, she's only one. She is also medically complex now with her seizures and her vision issues. If you want anything to do with her, you'll have to get certified in CPR, let alone do classes to ensure you can respond properly to when she has seizures," Olivia explained.
"I will do anything to get custody of her-"
"There won't be any custody, Casey. You'd be able to see her, not hold custody of her. You aren't her biological parent or even her adoptive parent. So don't get that in your head," Olivia sighed. She stood slowly and ran a hand over her belly as Evie tossed herself down and giggled loudly as she sat up and her hair was standing up and crazy.
"I wanted her to be my daughter, Liv. I love her like you love her. So please, give me time with her. Give me days with her and let her call me Mommy. Okay?"
"Nope," Elliot spoke, as he walked towards them.
"Excuse me? Olivia, I didn't want him here!" Casey exclaimed.
"Clearly it was a good idea he came home, since you want a lot more than we talked about!"
