It had been months without seeing (Y/N) and Bakugo felt as though he was suffocating. Knowing the villains, she could be dead for all anyone knew. While he didn't want to think about it, he knew it was a possibility, and considering how long it had been since they started searching, the chances grew more and more.
"She has to be out there somewhere. I know she is," Bakugo muttered to himself as he patrolled the streets of Japan. He always kept his eyes peeled for any clues or signs of his beloved, never giving up like many of the heroes had. The villains seemed to have vanished into thin air. Not popping up again since All For One was taken down by All Might which in turn caused All Might's retirement.
"What was that, Kacchan?" Midoriya asked, but the ash blond didn't reply. Sighing, Midoriya spoke up once again. "I know you're still thinking about (Y/N). I don't want to give up either, but it's been almost a year. All the heroes have told us what most likely happened—"
"She's not dead, Deku. I know she's not."
"Kacchan, how can you be so sure?"
"I just know, okay?!"
"Kacchan—" Midoriya was interrupted by loud explosions that erupted through the city. "Let's go!"
"Already ahead of you, Deku!" Bakugo had already launched himself into the air and toward the sounds of chaos, calling for backup as they realized just how many villains were around them. As backup arrived, they all fought to bring the villains down. Over the intercom, Bakugo overheard Kirishima asking for assistance.
"We'll get to you as soon as we bring this one down," Bakugo replied.
"Dynamight, you need to get over here!" Kirishima said, his connection cutting off a bit. "It's..."
"It's who?" Bakugo asked, static being heard on the other line for a moment before clearing up. "(Y/N)! It's (Y/N)!"
As soon as he heard her name, Bakugo let out an explosion that completely knocked out the villain in front of him. Rushing toward where he knew Kirishima was fighting, he was followed by Midoriya. As they made it to the spot they knew Kirishima was in, they noticed him on the ground, bleeding heavily.
"Red Riot!" Bakugo gasped as he rushed forward. Coughing, Kirishima shook his head. "No, stop! She's trying to lure you in." Stopping, Midoriya immediately noticed a long, thin string right in front of them two feet in front of them, placed where their necks would have been.
"Aww, that was so close! You shouldn't have spoiled the surprise!" A familiar voice echoed around them before the building in front of them came crumbling down. Luckily, Midoriya was able to grab Kirishima with his black whip so he wouldn't be crushed.
"You okay, Kirishima?" Midoriya asked. Nodding, Kirishima said, "I'm fine, but (Y/N) attacked me without hesitation. Something isn't right."
"Ah, I see you've noticed a change in our dear friend (Y/N)! Isn't she just so much better than before?" An unfamiliar female voice said. "I must say it was a lot of work getting her to be her very best, but it sure was worth it."
They soon spotted a figure in the very corner of the rubble. Stepping out into the light, (Y/N) had a large smirk on her face. A light gasp escaped Midoriya's lips, all three of them noticing her figure covered in scars, both healed and a few still healing. Growling, Bakugo shouted, "What the hell did you do to her?!"
"You must have finally seen my work! Isn't it beautiful? I did have to go a little extra hard on her to convince her to be loyal to us, but I had fun with her. She was such a fun nut to crack!"
Trying to pinpoint where the voice came from, he finally spotted a figure high above the rubble amidst the darkness. Bakugo smirked as he used his special move AP Shot to shoot her down before she could react. Unfortunately for him, (Y/N) had jumped in front of his attack, protecting whom she thought was her friend.
