(Y/N) sighed as she heard the news.

Prince Bakugo Katsuki and Princess Yaoyorozu Momo were to be wed in three months.

It was at the end of a long day of gardening when she overheard a few of the castle guards talking about it.

The whole kingdom was now aware and preparing for the ball to come after the ceremony.

(Y/N) made her way to her living quarters where she was met with a few of her friends.

"Hi, everyone. Why are you all here?" She asked.

"We heard about the Prince, and wanted to check up on you. We know how much you liked him," Uraraka said softly.

"I'm fine. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Thank you all for worrying, but I should be getting ready for bed. It's been a long day and I'm very tired," (Y/N) smiled.

"Are you sure you wouldn't want any one of us to stay with you?" Kaminari asked.

"I'm sure," she nodded as she opened the door to her room. "Good night, everyone."

She watched as everyone began to walk away. She entered her room quickly as she felt her breathing hitch and her eyes begin to water.

(Y/N) tried to hold back her tears but she could no longer keep her composure. She slid down her door slowly as she choked out a sob.

"Why are you crying?" She whispered to herself. "You knew this would happen! You knew that he would never marry you. You knew that he would choose a beautiful princess instead of some ugly commoner like you so why are you crying?!"

She then heard a knock on the door.

She quickly stood up and composed herself before opening the door.

"Oh, Midoriya. I thought you had left with everyone else," (Y/N) mumbled.

"I stayed back. I knew you weren't okay so I let everyone walk away to come back and check on you," he said.

"Well, thank you, but I'm fine, Midoriya."

"We've known each other since we were kids. I know you're not okay."

"Midoriya, I said I was fine-"

(Y/N) was cut off by her sob.

"Come here," the knight said as he opened up his arms.

The hug was accepted and she quietly cried into his shoulder.

Midoriya soothed her and held her tight as she calmed down.

"Thank you, Midoriya," she muttered as she let go of him.

"Call me, Izuku," he smiled at her.

After that encounter, Midoriya and (Y/N) became closer.

When either of them would go on their breaks, they would visit one another, talk about their day. They chose to sit next to each other during dinner and Midoriya would often walk (Y/N) back to her room.

(Y/N) had stopped delivering flowers due to the engagement. She didn't want to interfere with the newly engaged couple.

6 weeks after the engagement was announced, (Y/N) felt herself breaking.

She kept seeing the couple together. They looked so happy to her, and she couldn't quite handle it.

"Izuku," (Y/N) started.
