"Hey, (Y/N). Ready for another sparring session?" Bakugo called out to his best friend as he reached the practice gym. It was an early Saturday morning, (Y/N) having been up for hours already doing her own personal training.
Nodding, (Y/N) smiled, "Hell, yeah. Get ready to get your ass beat again!" Her statement made Bakugo scoff. "As if I'd let you win!"
"Oh, really? Says the one who lost the last couple of rounds," (Y/N) smirked, getting into position to launch herself at him. "It's not happening again!" Bakugo said as he used an explosion to rocket his way toward her.
As the two duked it out, (Y/N) eyed him carefully, hoping to not cause too much bodily harm, unlike the last two times they had sparred. She hated hurting him but he was very set on winning every single sparring match they had. Fortunately, she could fake her loss whenever she got too tired or felt Bakugo couldn't keep going. He would be too stubborn to stop and push himself way past his limit.
(Y/N) had been trained by high-ranking heroes so she had a higher pain tolerance and more amount of stamina to use. Her family pushed her much farther than she could go so in turn, she had to adapt and keep growing her power. This wasn't anything new, but Bakugo underestimated her strength every time they sparred.
"Eat dirt, loser!" Bakugo shouted as he knocked (Y/N) down, causing her to roll and hit the gym wall. Bakugo had always been ruthless, but today he pushed himself harder due to his previous losses. Grunting at the impact, (Y/N) fakely struggled to get up. She knew Bakugo wanted a harder win so she slowly made herself stand up. She always practiced until she practically passed out so this was nothing, but she hoped Bakugo didn't get to that point. So instead of fake passing out, she continued to fight.
From every kick to every punch, (Y/N) tried her best to play the role of the slowly weakening opponent. As she fell for the last time, she called it quits and gave Bakugo the win. "Sucks to suck, doesn't it, (Y/N)?"
"Shut up," (Y/N) said, mimicking his out of breath tone. She could feel the bruises forming from the hits she let him land and now she kind of wished she didn't fake her loss. "Hand me some water, will ya?" With a scoff, he reluctantly tossed a bottle to her, which she caught with ease. Bakugo hadn't noticed because if he had, he would've called her bluff.
The two sat there and talked about their lives. While they had only met in their first year, by their second, they became close friends. Now in their third year, both were denying that they were anything more than that. They've had their moments but both of them were in denial. Neither would give in and admit that they felt more.
Hearing her phone ping at a new notification, she picked it up to see a message from Ashido, one of the girls in her class. Apparently the class was planning to head to the beach later that day, most wanting a bit of a break now that they would soon be graduating.
"Everyone wants to go to the beach later. You gonna go?" (Y/N) asked, knowing she really didn't wanna go herself. Bakugo gave a gruff response, "Yeah. Shitty Hair and Dunce Face challenged me to a volleyball game, and you know I don't back out of a challenge."
"Sounds about right," (Y/N) sighed with a soft smile. "I think I'm just gonna stay here. The ocean gives me the heebie-jeebies." Bakugo knew her fear of the ocean was more than she cared to admit. While he didn't know why she was so scared of it, he knew that she wouldn't go anywhere near it so he didn't bother to try and convince her.
By now, he had gotten used to all the antics and stupidities his class would come up with. He would still become irritated, however they were much more tolerable now.
