it's close to the end of the family's trip, with only three days remaining. up to this point, everything turned out great and everyone has been enjoying themselves. initially the boys had been wondering whether or not this particular location would be enjoyable for them, but despite the fact it not been primarily what they agreed on doing, it turned out to be surprisingly refreshing. they had gone horseback riding earlier today to start with, and whilst everyone had a pretty easy time handling their assigned horse after being given instructions, louis hadn't been so lucky with his. the teen's horse kept throwing him off and working against him. the instructor had pointed out that louis simply needed to relax and try to keep a positive attitude, because the horse could sense his discomfort and stress, which in turn stressed the horse out as well.

however, eventually louis gave up because he was convinced the damn animal just didn't like him at all no matter how hard he tried. harry was laughing up a storm watching his big brother fail, and niall checked it off his list of 'things he could do better than louis'. afterwards they had gotten to help groom the horses, before getting them settled back into their stables. later, they had went to the lakeside picnic park to have a picnic—of course after having a shower back at the hotel since they'd been touching animals all morning. the park's landscape is very beautiful, the ground is flat, grass greener and healthier than any grass they'd ever seen. there were flowerbeds in some areas, well taken care of and such a wide open space where people could have plenty of space to run around if they chose to do so.

the lake met where the grassland ended at the edge of the landscape, the water seeming to sparkle like crystals as the sun's light beamed off of it beautifully. there was a pier leading out onto the lake, where people could sit and enjoy the view of the water, or get a better look at the ducks that swam around in there every now and then. their blanket was laid out a little further from the lake near a lone healthy looking tree, that helped in shielding them from the harsh glare of the sun. the food liam had prepared prior to arriving had been mostly eaten, aside from a few pieces of fruit left behind.

once again, liam and zayn had been left to their own after eating with the teens and bonding with them over the little meal, before the boys ran off with a frisbee they brought along. now they were running around the huge field playing catch with the frisbee. there's a few other families and couples scattered about the park, eating, chatting or taking pictures but it's peaceful and everyone appears to be enjoying themselves. the couple were engaged in a conversation amongst themselves when harry ran back over to them after spending quite some time playing. the curly haired boy was coughing up a storm and clearly out of breath, yet he was begging for zayn to come play on a team with him because louis and niall kept ganging up on him.

"alright love, i'll come play with you. but you need to take it easy." zayn tells him, noting harry's flushed face and heavy panting. harry nods impatiently, not really worried about that as he hops up and down whilst grabbing zayn's hand.

"c'mon baba, let's go put them in their place!" harry urged, tugging the man away eagerly, because he was about to present his trump card to his older brothers. zayn waves at liam as he's dragged off by their kid. liam just chuckles, adjusting his position to lean up against the tree, one arm behind his head, one of his legs laying flat while the other one is bent up to support his ipad that he brought along to read some of his ebooks since he hadn't taken any handheld books with him on the trip.

occasionally he looks away from the screen, smiling at his boys as he watches them run around on the grassy field, their happy laughter and shouts echoing through the air. the man goes back to reading his book, and remains doing so for around twenty minutes, before he yawns and shuts off the ipad when his eyes starts to get tired from staring at the screen too long. liam fans himself with a huff, the summer heat getting to him despite the shade. he grabs a water from the cooler, taking a few big gulps before releasing and screwing the cap back on. just as he did so, harry came back over to the blanket. liam thought he was about to ask for him to join them in their game as well, but instead the teen falls down onto the blanket next to the man, leaning his head onto his shoulder with a soft moan.
