liam wakes up first. surprisingly, zayn is still next to him, asleep. liam had debated if he wanted to wake him up, but it's saturday. he didn't want to disturb his sleep before he was ready to get up. working probably had him worn out. no matter how bad he wanted to greet the man, hear the sound of his raspy, tired voice, lay in bed and talk like they were accustomed. he opted to let him rest. surely he'd be up soon and liam would be able to get some time in with him.

he slips out of bed, careful not to stir the other man, stretching his arms over his head with a light sigh of relief. then he heads to the kitchen to see what he can make for breakfast. he hadn't really planned on cooking this morning, but since harry has company over and zayn is home, he felt like he should. it wasn't too early in the morning, only just past ten. the boys would probably be waking soon since they got to sleep in a little longer, and by that time, liam would be most likely finished cooking.

liam washed his hands, then got to work, moving around the kitchen. trying to push all the previous negative things to the back of his mind. it was a new day, he was hopeful that it would be a better one, and that he would be able to talk to zayn. and that hopefully the boys wouldn't cause too much ruckus with their petty fights. especially since zayn was home and he would be the one to really put them in check. he was better at it anyway.

several minutes go by, liam moving around the kitchen like a busy bee, talking to himself under his breath occasionally. he's halfway through, only a few more things to get done. he hears distant echoes of feet on the floor and voices. liam places a plate lined with freshly hot cinnamon rolls just as a body rounds the corner and enters the kitchen.

"good morning." niall's voice deep and groggy rings in when he lays eyes on liam. the man smiles lovingly.

"morning love. i'm not done cooking yet, but you can eat what's already there if you want." he says. niall shakes his head as he sits down, stretching his arms over his head.

"i'll just wait." he says between a yawn, before lying his head down on the table. liam turns to the stove to finish up the last of the food.

"how'd you sleep?"

"great. but i'm starving." he answers. liam hums.

"when aren't you." liam comments playfully. niall just gives him a grumpy look that liam can't see since his back is to him, but he laughs anyway because he knows he got a reaction. when liam is finally finishing up making the last of the food, two more bodies stroll into the kitchen. none other then harry with mitch in tow. they are both wearing a simple matching pajamas set—harry's idea, liam assumes. it takes every fiber in his body to refrain from cooing at the two for how cute they appeared.

they were so lovely together. and mitch was so good to harry. he could tell, just by the way harry felt safe and comfortable around him, and was never afraid to speak his mind. liam couldn't ask for a better companion for his son to have. he made harry happy in ways nobody else could. it reminded him very much of how he and zayn used to be when they were the same age. they were high school sweethearts too, therefore he knew exactly what it felt like growing closer day by day, being practically attached at the hip. that infatuation soon turning into not being able to live without one another.

people always assumed that teenagers didn't know what meaning of love was, and whether or not that was true, he and zayn figured it out anyway.
