another few days go by not too smoothly. it's been an oddly dissatisfying week, not for everyone but for some. mainly zayn and liam who figured that they have their work cut out for them in trying to get to the bottom of harry's moodiness. it wasn't an easy task. every time either one of them tried to talk to the boy, he'd be either disinterested or got very frustrated with them very quickly. liam is worried and zayn is fed up. neither of them could figure out what was triggering harry to behave the way he was. they both concluded that maybe the boy would come to his senses if they simply left him alone altogether.

the constant pestering isn't going to help his mood improve any faster. the only thing they really could do was to give him the space that he obviously desired. zayn isn't exactly pleased with letting harry off the hook for his recent behavior, however for the sake of keeping the peace in the house-and lessening his stress, he went along with it and decided it would be best to simply leave the boy alone for now.

harry is half relieved when the two of them stopped bothering him, as if being on punishment, cooped up in the house all day wasn't a bad enough. the last thing he needed was for the two of them to continually be on his case. the least he should be able to do is relax. besides, he didn't have anything to talk about with them anyway, he didn't know why they were trying to make it into a big deal, he simply didn't wanna be bothered. couldn't that be good enough of a reason for them to accept and let it go? if he had anything to say, he'd say it. not that he could put into words how he was feeling anyway, therefore it's pointless.

thankfully, today is the last day of his punishment, and he'd gotten his phone and ipad back. so he was able to entertain himself while staying cooped up his room all day, avoiding human interaction. he was laying on the bed, on top of his blanket, his phone next to his head with mitch on facetime. the older boy was playing the game while he and harry spoke on facetime, keeping each other company.

"for someone who just got off punishment, you sure do sound glum." mitch comments, the sound of his fingers clicking over the controller echoing over the line. they've been talking on the phone for a little over thirty minutes now, and harry appeared a little dejected, giving not so enthusiastic replies. harry grumbles.

"i'm not glum, i'm just bored. it feels like there's never anything to do anymore." harry replies. mitch chuckles.

"bored in a big ass mansion is actually insane." he says. harry sighs, rolling over on his back.

"it's not that i don't have anything to do, i just don't feel like doing anything."

"in other words, you don't have interest in doing anything?" mitch elaborates. harry hums.

"yeah, i guess so."

"that makes sense, it happens sometimes. i'm certain it'll pass over soon and you'll be back to playing that cooking game on your switch that you love playing." mitch tells him. harry snorts softly.

"i haven't played cooking mama in weeks."

"exactly, maybe you should get back into it. it'll cheer you up." mitch tells him. harry exhales lightly.

"you've already cheered me up."

"don't sound like it to me, love."

"i am i swear. i just wish you were here with me. i've been up here by myself all day." harry grumbles in despair.

"yeah, we both know your dad isn't gonna let me come over right now. it's getting dark out." mitch says. harry's eye twitches in annoyance at the mention of the man. he'd been avoiding his parents like plague today. he didn't speak a word at breakfast this morning, and he ate lunch alone in his room. and the dinner table was full of chatter, excluding him. he doesn't even remember if he'd made eye contact with anyone today.

"yeah, that's nothing new." harry mutters.

"but that's okay, because you got me right here," mitch says, picking up the phone and blowing kisses into the camera. "i'll stay on facetime with you all night."

harry smiles. "like a virtual sleepover?"

"yeah, exactly." mitch smiles. harry bites his lip as a devious little idea slips into his head.

"or we can have a real sleepover." he tells him. the older boy pauses momentarily.

"what you mean?"

"i mean, we can have a real sleepover. like physically."

"harry, are you suggesting sneaking out?" mitch raises an eyebrow.

"technically it wouldn't be sneaking out, i'm off punishment."

"and you're gonna be right back on punishment, because you and i both know your dads aren't gonna give you permission to come over here. especially not to let you stay overnight." mitch tells him. harry pouts.

"they don't have to know i'm gone. they'll think i'm sleeping in my room. and i can be back home before anyone wakes up in the morning." harry says. mitch rubs a hand over his face.

"h, i don't want you walking alone at night."

"then meet me halfway and we can walk back together." harry says. mitch groans.

"harry, you sure you wanna do this? i don't want you getting into more trouble with your parents. and they're gonna think i'm a bad influence and hate me even more." mitch tells him with uncertainty.

"you're not a bad influence, it was my idea. my papa loves you, it's my dad who's unreasonably wary of you. so who cares about what he thinks?"

"me... kinda. i've been trying hard to get into his good graces by showing him i would never hurt you. but he still hates me." mitch laughs nervously. harry rolls his eyes.

"then let him. can we please have a sleepover? just for tonight?" harry pouts. mitch sighs, staring at harry through the screen, making that face he always makes when he wants to get his way. and for some reason it always works. it's like voodoo.

"fine. but i don't want you walking in the dark, so i'll take my dad's car and come get you. my parents aren't home and my dad left me his keys to his other car." mitch tells him. harry cheers, clapping.

"yay! this is gonna be so much fun." he says merrily. mitch can only smile, because it's the first time since they've been on the phone that harry genuinely sounds happy. he wouldn't take that away from him.

"okay, well i guess you have figure out how you're slipping out of the house without being seen." mitch smirks. harry snickers.

"i can do that, easy!" harry says. mitch smiles.

"i hope so. tell me when you're ready, i'll park the car a few houses down so no one sees me, and meet you halfway from there."

"okay." harry nods with a grin, before blowing mitch one last kiss and ending the call. he jumps out of the bed, and pulls on a dark hoodie.

harry was actually going to do this. he was going to sneak out.
