louis wakes up the next morning, overly tired. he doesn't know the exact time he fell asleep last night, but he knows it was sometime after two. his eyes were unusually heavy, and it took him a good minute to get the strength in his muscles to actually sit up in the bed. he groans softly at soreness in his eyes, rubbing at it to get it to go away. louis reaches over to turn on the lamp next to him, cringing at the light. it's not as terrible as it could've been. he was used to staying up most nights, but last night was oddly more tiring than he was used to.
louis glances to his side, seeing harry still asleep next to him. he's still curled up in the same position he fell asleep in, like he hadn't moved an inch at all. not even a single stir in his sleep. he must've been really exhausted. his breathing is audible, but he isn't snoring, just slowly inhaling and exhaling, deep. his face is relaxed, which is probably a good sign. he wasn't having a nightmare again. and he slept through the rest of the night without tossing and turning. louis was glad.
it probably helped, taking to him and all. even if it wasn't as mushy and deep. but harry revealed to him something he had yet to tell anybody else. that must've felt like a relief for him. and though louis wasn't the best person to talk to, harry trusted him enough to do so. louis knew it was only because he and niall weren't on the best terms right now. he didn't take offense to it. it only made sense for them to be closer, even if harry and louis were closer in age. niall was the gentle brother who had patience, while louis was a little rougher around the edges, and got annoyed too easily.
it wasn't as though they actually hated each other. just got one each other's nerves is all.
louis's eyes drift over towards the clock, grumbling when he realizes they have school today. he gets up, stretching slightly before he walks to switch on the main light. the brightness hurts at first, but he recovers fast. harry doesn't flinch at all even as the light hits his face. louis debates whether or not he should wake the boy now or let him sleep a bit longer. he shrugs, walking back to the bed and leaning over harry. gently, he shakes him by the shoulder.
"harry, wake up." he says. harry doesn't respond at first, only exhales deeply. so louis tries again. "c'mon, we have school."
"okay, i'm up, i'm up." harry mumbles groggily, but he's still got his eyes closed and he's not making a single move to get up. louis sighs, backing away. it was pointless to try and wake him up now. so, he just left him be. he would try again in a little bit. maybe closer to when it was time to go. louis heads to the shower to wash up. he didn't have much time to really spare, so his shower lasted about ten minutes. once he's dry and dressed in his usual clothes, a black band tee and faded baggy ripped jeans. he brushes his teeth and brushes his hair.
harry's sleeping still by the time he's done all that. louis grumbles, walking over to him about to shake him again. but he stops himself. he stares at the younger teen for a moment before backing away with a sigh and shaking his head. louis fixes the blanket over him, before grabbing his phone off the charger, and backpack then leaving the room after he shuts the lights off. louis goes into the kitchen where a small breakfast is awaiting him.
niall is already there, eating, and liam is sitting further down from him, a half finished coffee in front of him. the man looks up when he hears someone enter the kitchen, smiling tiredly.
"good morning, lou." he says. louis hums, sitting in the seat next to him and grabbing a cup to fill it up with juice, taking large gulps. he was thirsty.
