harry is sleeping in zayn and liam's hotel room, curled up snuggly in the blankets. they had returned last night after getting out of the hospital, they'd spent nearly three hours there and it was close to nine when they finally came back. zayn explained everything to liam, telling him how harry had a really bad inflammation in his airways that must've been caused by an unknown irritant. they're not sure what triggered it, but assuming it could've been when they went horseback riding, surrounded by all of the animal dander and dirt particles. or harry simply didn't give his body enough time to rest between play.

whatever it was, they would take extra care to avoid anymore triggers. though it's been forever since harry had ever been effected by anything. one or two puffs from his inhaler whenever he was feeling winded was usually enough to help him and have him back in action. then again, all week they've been doing nothing but activity after activity and his body just didn't get enough time to adjust. thankfully everything was okay now, as the doctor had said it could've ended up way worse in more chronic conditions where harry would've lost consciousness because he just could've get any air in at all.

the teen was given a pill that would help decrease his lungs' response to irritants and relax his airways so that it would ease the suffocating feeling. however he would still have to take it easy for the next few days to ensure he doesn't stimulate another attack early on. he needed to rest. zayn and liam are awake on either side of the teen, talking quietly amongst themselves. liam has his arms crossed as he sits up against the headboard of the bed. zayn is leaning on his elbow, letting his fingers comb through harry's chocolate curls as the boy sleeps, snoring louder than normal for obvious reasons.

"should we leave?" liam asks. zayn hums, raising an eyebrow.

"leave? whadaya mean?" zayn murmurs, voice still raspy from sleepiness, only having woken up not too long ago himself. liam shrugs slightly.

"we've got two more days left here, and harry's pretty much out of commission. should we finish off our vacation or just leave early?" liam asks, tilting his head. zayn breathes in, releasing a heavy sigh. zayn's protective nature most definitely screamed for them to pack their shit up right now and go back home on the next flight out, but another part of him didn't exactly know if that's what they should do. ultimately, in the next few weeks the boys will be returning to school, zayn would get busy and they wouldn't get many times like this together for a while. then again, the raven could always take more time off work to focus on his family because he refused to put his career before them.

"i don't know, what do you think?" zayn asks. liam's eyes widen slightly. the younger man isn't very used to the raven leaving important decisions as such up to him, he's always quick to make the final call. though, now was not the time to think about that. hell, the last time he mentioned zayn's tendencies to be a little controlling, a big argument came out of it.

"i think maybe we should. i mean, we still have about three weeks before school starts, and it's not like there's nothing we can do once we're back in our home state. there's always something to do." liam tells him. zayn nods.

"that's true."

"besides, i'd feel bad to if we're still here having the times of our lives while he's suffering." liam admits.

"i would too. i hate when we're far from home when things like this happen." zayn states truthfully. liam is about to respond when they are both taken aback by a tired voice murmuring something so quiet they're not sure if they both imagined it or not.
