Chapter 14: Metamorphosis

Third person POV:

Saori walked behind Iroh as the three walked into the apartment.

Zuko stumbled and held onto the nearby table. "I don't feel so good." He groaned as his knees gave out.

Saori rushed forward and stopped the boy from hitting his head on the table as he fell onto Saori.

"Zuko!" Iroh ran to the two.

His body heated up at an alarming rate as Iroh and Saori laid him down on a futon.

Time skip

Zuko turned to his side and opened his eyes only to see a raven staring back at him, it croaked as Saori and Iroh rushed through the door within seconds.

Saori sat down, lightly scratching Dior as Iris flew in through the window with some herbs.

The sorcerer placed her cold hand on his hot forehead and wiped of his sweat with a cloth.

"You're burning up. You have a pretty bad fever." She placed a wet cloth on his forehead, "This will help cool you down."

"So thirsty." Zuko hoarsely spoke.

"Here's some clean water to drink." Iroh pulled an entire bucket with a ladle and pushed it to the boy.

Saori filled the ladle with water and held it to Zuko's mouth, he took a small sip before grabbing her hand and tilting the ladle, making the water spill all over him.

He let Saori's hand go and grabbed the bucket and drank straight from it but not without spilling more than half of it on the floor.

"Spirits Zuko, I know you're sick but don't go about acting like an animal." Saori muttered as she bent the water out the floor and threw it into the bucket.

Zuko coughed and laid back down as Iroh covered him with the blanket.

Time skip

Zuko groaned and shifted under the blanket as Saori scolded him. "Stop moving around, prince Zuko." A green glow enveloped her hands as she slightly lowered his body temperature. "The more I try to lower his temperature, the faster it goes up." She informed Iroh.

Zuko's POV:

Saori's voice faded as I found myself sitting in the Firelord's place. Two dragons slithered around me when the blue one spoke out in Azula's voice. "It's getting late, are you planning to retire soon, my lord?"

"I'm not tired." I answered her.

"Relax Firelord Zuko, just let go, give into it, shut your eyes for a while."

I was about to close me eyes when a mixture of Saori's and uncle's voice spoke as the red dragon. "No Firelord Zuko! Do not listen to the blue dragon! You should get out of here right now. Go! Before it's too late!"

"Sleep now Firelord Zuko." The blue dragon vanished. And so did everything else, the four pillars crumbles as I just sat in the middle of the abyss.

The blue dragon appeared as it attacked me. "Sleep. Just like MOTHER!"

I shut my eyes but when I opened them, I heard mom cry out for help. Before I could do anything, I was sucked into the abyss.

Time skip

"You should know this is not a natural sickness, but shouldn't stop you from enjoying tea." Iroh fed the me.

"What's happening?"

"Your critical decision, what you did beneath that lake, it was in such conflict with the image of yourself that you are at war within your own mind and body."

"What does that mean?" I coughed.

"You are going through a metamorphosis, my nephew. It will not be a pleasant experience but, when you come out of it, you will be the beautiful prince you were always ment to be."

"Where's Saori?" I croaked out.

"She left a while ago, she has to go and complete her tasks."

Time skip

I walked to the bathroom to wash my face. I splashed water on myself but when I looked at myself in the mirror, my scar was gone and instead of my hair, I had the Avatar's tattoo.

I jerked awake as my first instinct was to feel the left side of my eye. I felt my scar as I closed my eyes.

Time skip

I shifted awake as I saw the raven from before, it croaked as Saori walked into the room. "You're awake." She spoke in a monotone voice but I could make out some happiness out of it.

"Yeah.." Was all I could say when I realised I was shirtless and infront of her. My heartbeat sped up making me feel like I was about to throw up.

"Are you okay? Your face seems a little red."

Saori walked closer to me as she placed her cold hand against my head. "Your temperature seems to be coming down, it should be down by sunrise."

She pushed me back down and sat down next to me. "Sleep."

"Will you be here when I wake up?" I asked, hoping she would say yes.

"I'm sorry, but no. I have to leave, Prince Zuko."

I don't know what came over me but I held her hand and pulled her down. "Then stay until you have to." My body spoke on its own. "Please."

Saori's face was just as red as mine. "Very well..." She whispered.

Time skip

Zuko held onto the girl as she lightly leaned into him. The prince's temperature lowered as Saori's cold temperature contrasted his warm one.

The two teenagers slowly drifted off into dreamland.

Saori tried to shift but was stopped, not used to being restricted she opened her eyes only to see Zuko sleeping with a faint smile. She felt someone throw her kunai, untangling herself from Zuko's grip, she kept a pillow instead of her. Getting up, she brushed herself off and flattened her hair and dress.

She wasn't going to lie to herself, she did sleep well next to the fire nation prince, hell, it was way more than well.

Brushing off the thought, she finished freshening up, she wrote a note that she was going to the spirit world. Keeping the note next to the sleeping Zuko, she placed a small kiss on his head, causing the prince to smile in his sleep and quietly teleported to the place the kunai was thrown.

She appeared infront of Aang as he smiled. "We're going to the Eastern Air Temple. There we'll meet a guru who is going has offered to help me control the Avatar state and give you better control over your powers!"

"Sounds interesting."

"Will you come? We'll drop Sokka off at Chameleon Bay and head to the temple."

"Sure I'm in." Saori accepted the offer. "But before we split up, I want you all to meet two idiots."

They all watched as to ravens perched themselves onto Saori's arm. "This is Dior and Iris, they help me with spirits."

"They're so beautiful." Katara stepped forward. "Can I-?"

"Sure go ahead, they're friendly."

Katara lightly scratched Iris's head as she croaked in approval.

"She likes you Katara."

After introducing the ravens to the gang and the gang to the ravens, Saori, Sokka and Aang climbed onto Appa and left for the temple.
