The fall's lingering embrace was now a vague memory sowed deep in the soil as winter's gates opened. October and December may have been the two favorite months in the years, other than summer vacation. December was the entrance to winter's wonderland. The wintry sunlight was the highlight of anyone's day even if the air was brisk. Sunshine and cold were an odd combination but for someone who promised to see the good in every day, Ava only wanted to keep positive energy around.

On a better note, he no longer needed the breathing machine. Doctors were beginning to give up on him but Ava refused to. The feeding tube was doing just fine. He was fighting and she would fight for him if nobody else would.

It was December the 17th, they were bundled up in their best winter fit with matching earth tones. Zora rocked her tiny earmuffs, mittens, and baby boots, with the necklace Lucky intended to gift her after her birth. It wasn't as cold as Ava assumed but she wasn't taking any chances with babygirl. Lucky would have had a fit if he were alert. She knew better than to have their daughter out in this cold. Words that Ava knew Lucky would have said with a sly smirk on his face.

"You finally get to see Daddy today... I think he'll enjoy it," she spoke softly to Zora as she walked through the hospital lobby.

"Look at the princessss!" Michelle cooed, rushing over when Ava stepped off of the elevator.

Ava smiled, "Hey Chelle."

"Best friend," Michelle smiled at her before taking Zora. "She's picking up weight, look at her cheeks!"

Ava's heart warmed when Zora smiled at Michelle, "I've been using dat ProSobee formula you dropped off."

"I figured she'd take well to it, your butt is a half vegetarian any deggone way, ain't that right?" she cooed at Zora.

"I don't know if I wanna be a vegan, pescatarian, or vegetarian... I'm all over," Ava shook her head as they headed down to Lucky's room.

"You wouldn't be you if you weren't indecisive. Did you know your mom paid off the staffs loans? Well for the nurses since she was... y'know."

Ava stared at her taken aback, "she did what? How you know it was her?"

Michelle grinned, "she sent an apology letter to us after. She didn't tell you?"

Ava shook her head.

"I'ma just say, I might need her to get upset with us more often. She cleared me of the five-grand I owed."

Ava pursed her lips, "How much did she pay off?"

"Two million," she whispered.

"She's always up to something," Ava uttered more to herself then smiled, "I guess that's why everyone has been in a better mood lately?"

Michelle nodded, "we're not supposed to say anything tho, but you know I had to tell you."

"Congrats," Ava nudged her.

"Thanks.,, oh yeah, so I also made sure the rest of the staff doesn't change Lucky's name. I'm not sure if you wanted them to or not, but I made sure they kept it as Lucky... Ramsee is a cute name tho... gives me Egyptian vibes or something."

Amused, Ava shook her head, "Don't use it around him... he might have a fit when he wakes up and realizes his da- Hakim told tha' world."

Michelle shook her head as she placed Zora back in the stroller, "what's up with him?"

"Beats me," Ava shrugged as they entered Lucky's room.

Yonas was doing his usual assessment.
