"There has been chatter on some social media site about a possible hate crime against a group of locals at a poetry event... now usually I'll tell you to just keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary but I've been asked to dive deeper into the situation."

"Hate crime against the LGBT community?" Von queried.

Carmen shook her head, "it's a small black-owned coffee shop that hosts poetry and spoken word events twice a night... since Juneteenth is approaching... a lot of threats have been skyrocketing from what I have been told are some upcoming Proud Boy members."

"What site?" Agent Kemp decided to ask.

"It's more of a free blog, it's been compared to Twitter and Tumblr... I'll let Special Agent Shane further explain... Von, in my office," she concluded before walking away.

Grabbing his notepad, Von followed behind Carmen, "wassup?"

"I need you to do whatever you usually do to get a message to Stone's family."

Von's brows crease, "pardon?"

Carmen chuckled, "No need to play dumb with me, but Stone's daughter's home is being watched from midnight to four a.m... I'm not sure which agents are doing it, but I've been doing what I can to find out what is happening. I know you aren't a crooked agent, but I also know that you and Davidson have some odd brotherly love thing going on, so let him or Stone know what's going on."

Leaning against the closed door, Von tucked his hands into his pockets, "why me?"

"Because I'm the Special Agent in Charge and quite frankly, I'm also being watched for whatever reason... I'm pretty sure it has to do with Iggy being here but as I said, I'll figure it out. Will you relay the message or not?"

Staring at her for a while even though he knew he would, Von nodded, "Mm-hmm... anything else?"

Carmen nodded, "If I start being rude to you in front of the unit, go with it. I'm protecting you whether you believe it, but if one of us has to go down, I'd rather it be me."

"Just let me know if you need help," he replied before heading out.

Sighing, Carmen sat down and stared out the window at the rest of the squad. Agent Iggy was already on her to-watch list but now she had to figure out who else was wrapped in the foolishness.

Meanwhile, across the city, Dante had just finished registering for the summer semester and was making his way to the library when the back of his ankle was nipped. Pain shot through his body but quickly was replaced by rage as he prepared to give whomever a piece of his mind for attempting murder on his ankle.

"Sorry!" the soft yet nasally voice quickly spoke.

Breathing through the pain, Dante turned around to put a face to the voice, "Not to be rude, but you ain't see me?"

The young lady stared at him for a moment.

"You attempted to run my ankle off on purpose or nah?" he decided to lighten the mood.

"No," she simply answered before pulling the cart full of books toward her, "sorry."

No longer upset, Dante helped her gather the fallen books before asking his next question, "so... what are you doing on campus? Registering for summer classes like me or you getting ready for the fall?"

The young lady flashed a soft smile before turning the volume to her hearing aid up.

Oh shit, Dante thought, "um... Lord... father forgive me, forgive my ignorance," he remorsefully apologized. "Please don't be offended but can you um... read my lips?"
