"What does Kingston Stone have to do with this trial?" The judge queried. It was his turn to be confused. The trial was going on longer than he had hoped but Carmen and Von seemed to be pulling out new evidence like clockwork.
"The man has diplomatic immunity, how does a regular civilian who was formally known as a serial killer get granted that? He doesn't work for the government, so how is that even accurate?" Iggy asked. She wasn't going to continue telling everything she knew without attempting to bring the Stone family down.
"What does that have to do with you tho, Ms. Enger?" he repeated.
"I asked a question," she mirrored his tone.
"For starters," he removed his glasses to get a better look at her, "those documents were signed and typed up by another judge. Secondly, that family's business is none of your concern. They have not been mixed up in any conspiracy for years, so for you to come here with a motive, is very alarming."
"And we're not discussing the irrelevance," Von cut in, "you asked for a plea deal in exchange to tell us everything that you have discovered and so far, the only one that's about to go down for multiple accounts is you."
"What more do you want from me?!"
"Would the court please bring in our corroborating witness?" He looked back at the bailiff.
Heading toward the closed doors, he opened and in walked Hilarie.
Carmen quirked a taunting brow at Iggy.
After swearing her in, Hilarie was escorted to another seat. "So, Mrs. Rodes, would you please tell the court what you told my boss and me last month?"
"Yes," she nodded, "I was hired by Agent Iggy to plant bugs into the home of the Allens in exchange for my freedom... I am an ex-addict and was working undercover to take down a drug ring but ended up telling the guys about the bust. So in exchange, I was asked to take down Lucky Allen by any means."
"And what do you mean by that? Would you elaborate for those who may not know?"
"I was told to try to get him to cheat on his wife. I was told to make sexual advances. I was also prepped on how to act with the wife when the husband was not around and how to act when the husband was alone. The hope was for my advantages to work, drive a wedge between the two and force the wife to flip on her husband had things gone as planned."
"But you were met with a blockage? How?"
"Mr. Allen discovered the bugs and fired me," she shrugged, "I thought he was going to assault me or something like I had been warned, but he just told me to kick rocks, and that's what I did."
"But then you returned and spoke to the wife... why?" he queried.
"I wanted to apologize. I had time to think and after being threatened, I figured I had nothing to lose, so I went back to the residence to apologize but only the wife answered and she had no idea what I was talking about, so I got the hell out of dodge before she could attack me."
Nodding, Von glanced at Iggy, "and how did Agent Iggy feel when you told her that her plan did not work?"
"She was upset and said that she would find someone else to do my job. Threatened to send me to prison and even offered me a bag of coke to OD."
The judge turned to Iggy with raised brows.
"And this is what she gave you?" Von walked toward Carmen and retrieved the evidence before handing it to the judge.
Hilarie nodded, "Yes, I did not take it. I just kept it... started to lose my mind and that's when I came to you guys for help, if I relapse, I'm as good as dead and that's what she wanted. To tie up loose ends."
