It was a captivating summer day. The sun was high but the nice breeze kept the air cool. The scent of fresh-cut grass and charcoal was circulating in the atmosphere. It was mid-July. Ava's expected due date was in August but she was expected to go into labor anytime next week given the current position of baby boy. It was also Ava's and Lucky's one-year wedding anniversary, so their day would be filled with a lot.

It was noon and Ary found herself posing while Dajon attempted to display his artistic skills at painting.

"Even tho we haven't formally been introduced to our son's girlfriend-not-girlfriend, I think I'm already rooting for her," Dajon said as he dipped the paintbrush into the blue paint

"Even tho we haven't formally been introduced to our son's girlfriend-not-girlfriend, I think I'm already rooting for her," Dajon said as he dipped the paintbrush into the blue paint.

"He talks on the phone with her around me, she sounds pretty sweet... he won't come out and say it but he's been real chirpy these past few months."

"Facts," Dajon chuckled, "he just like me for real."

"Does he know about Laiya?"

"He knows, didn't have much to say. You know how he is. I blame you for teaching him how to meditate, got folks thinking he doesn't know how to show feelings."

Ary laughed, "you gon' stop talking about my baby, there is nothing wrong with him. He was born with that personality, did you forget you made me take him to see a specialist 'cause he wouldn't cry when you took his trucks from him?"

Dajon busted out laughing at the memory. Dante was indeed an interesting child.

"Do you think he'll fall in deep with this young lady and... you know?"

Dajon smirked, "I ain't discussing our son's sex life with you crazy lady, you can ask him that if you're bold."

Ary sucked her teeth, "I'ma mind my business like he used to tell me," she said then laughed. "Even as a kid, he was too mature for his own good."

"All the kids in this family are born with old souls," he reminded.

"You ain't lying about that," she smiled.

"Should we talk about the issue that you've been avoiding?" he glanced at her.

Ary shrugged, "what's to talk about? I don't have any working eggs left."

"Do you want to get a surrogate?"

"Nope..." she stared ahead, "we waited too long, that's life."

"We can adopt if that'll help," he suggested, "I know you wanted a daughter, Millz."

"I know," clearing her throat, she straightened her pose, "how's the hunt for the empty land coming along?" she decided to change the subject.

"We found an area like an hour from the city... got woods in the back."

Ary narrowed her eyes at him, "have you not watched enough horror movies to know that's a no, no?"

Dajon chuckled, "The woman that showed us, let us walk through the woods. She said the only thing that lives 'round there are deers and rabbits, nothing crazy."
