It was June 2nd, another hot summer day but since Ava and Lucky were near the water, they got to experience a mild cold front. Today, Lucky was able to end his PT session with 92% of his leg strength back. Patricia wanted to finish out his last two weeks but Lucky wanted to finish home. She was against it because she knew from experience that he liked to overwork himself, but it was his money and his decision.

As long as he followed her recovery plan, she was fine with it. She also told him that although he felt as if he could turn into Superman or take over the world, he still needed to be careful because although he was at a good average, it would still take an additional six months for him to do things that he was used to. Lucky didn't mind it, he's been pushing his limits for the last three months. Once he set his mind on something, he always had to see it through.

The same with couples therapy, Elise had shortened his and Ava's meetings down to once every two weeks. Lucky didn't really like the change because he enjoyed therapy and how much it changed him but he also understood that from a professional's viewpoint, he and Ava's progress had improved tremendously despite the minor setback and the insensitive move he pulled.

While Ava hung out in the living room playing with Zora and Ace, Lucky and Elise were outside on the back patio for his solo session.

"I know I've been giving you tha' run around and holding back but I think I'm okay with reintroducing myself to you now," he revealed.

Deciding to try a different approach, Elise closed her laptop and placed it inside her bag, "Whenever you're ready."

"Legally... anything I tell you, you can't go off and run to tha' feds, right?"

Elise stared at him for a moment before nodding, "Unless I feel as if you're a threat to yourself or the world, you're correct."

Lucky took a deep breath and slid forward, "Ok... so... my name is Ramsee. Ramsee Sharik Allen, but I prefer if you continued calling me Lucky. I'm from Philly and sometimes I miss being there because I feel connected to my mom."

Elise smiled, "Powerful name and a well diverse city, I mean no disrespect when I say this, but nice to finally meet you, Ramsee," she chuckled.

Lucky playfully bowed before continuing, "I'll be thirty in two days... I didn't have tha' best life but my mom did tha' best she could. I'm getting married soon and I'm hoping I can get another daughter. After prison, I was approached and chosen by some dude affiliated with tha' mafia... long story short, I became their gunman... he and a few others were like my handlers but I came with a price. I was young and hurting for money but I was far from stupid. They wanted me to handle a situation, and I wanted to get paid... they paid me well. Usually I'd get half up front and tha' rest after tha' job was done. I won't throw out numbers but just know it took a lot of arguments to convince their asses to give me what I was asking for and it kept me comfortable enough to take care of my sister while she stayed with our aunt. I probably could have chosen a different path but I can't change tha' past."

When he paused, Elise had to figure out if she should speak or not.

Clearing his throat, Lucky stared at her, "I started with two contracts every four months just to get my feet wet and once I felt comfortable and felt like I did enough training and studying, I was picking up minor contracts and big ones, for tha' same price. I did a lot of shit dat a lot of people would say I'll most likely burn in hell for... I came here for work but ran into Ava... my life changed faster than I could have imagined but I wanted her in my life. I had already cut ties with tha' old dude I was working with but was working on another contract with someone else, but when I realized I had fallen for Ava, I knew I fucked up and knew I couldn't up and dip once tha' work was done. Tha' dude dat I guess, you can say, put me on, ain't like tha' fact dat I no longer needed his money, and shit happened... das' how I got shot."
