Matthew Espinosa *happy birthday*

I woke up to the bright sunshine coming through my window. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I glanced at the time 11:30. Wow I slept in.

I turned on my phone. There were no messages. My heart fell. Of all the days for my boyfriend Matt to forget to text me, why today? It's my birthday!

I stretched and stepped out of bed. I grabbed my water bottle and walked downstairs. My mom was standing at the stove.

"Morning sleepy head." She smiled as she placed a fresh homemade waffle on my plate.

I grunted in response. I was still kind of groggy.

"Someone's in a mood. Matt forget to text again?"

I nodded and took a large gulp of the orange juice she had just placed in front of me.

"I'm sorry honey. Maybe he's planning something special for your birthday."

I shrugged and ate my waffle. I hated talking to people when id first woke up my voice was always scratchy. My mom kissed my forehead.

"Happy birthday. I'll be home in a few hours."

"Work?"

"Unfortunately." I nodded and stood hugging her.

I placed my dirty dishes in the sink and flopped onto my small sofa. I turned in Netflix and began playing Baby Daddy (sorry if you don't like this one... it's my favorite). I giggled as Bonie teased Tucker about his height for what seemed like the thousandth time.

My phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID hoping it was Matt. My heart fell.

"Mom?"

"Well don't sound so disappointed."

"Sorry. I thought you were Matt. What's up you just left?"

"My car broke down. Can you drive me?"

I groaned slightly, "Sure. I just need to get dressed."

"Thank you."

"Mhmm."

I hung up and walked up to my room. I pulled on a pair of high waisted light washed jeans and a coral cropped spaghetti strap tank. I grabbed my keys and jumped into my car.

*skip ride and picking up mom*

"Wanna come in?" My mom asked.

"Why?"

"I don't know."

I shrugged and stepped outside into the hot Los Angeles sun. We walked into the office building.

"So where do you work?" I asked gesturing around to the large building.

"On the third floor but I have a meeting in the auditorium."

"Ah. Well have a good day."

"Stay for a bit."

"Mom, I don't really want to."

"Too bad."

We walked slowly to the large auditorium. My mom opened the door and flicked on the lights.

"SURPRISE!!" Matt and the rest of the guys jumped out, confetti falling.

I grinned. Matt came and hugged me, "Happy birthday baby girl."

"I thought you forgot."

"Never." Matt kissed my temple.
