Emily's POV

I got out of my car carrying my groceries. Today seemed to drag on forever. Not only was my boss a nitwit who doesn't seem to know how to do her job, but she was rude and insensitive. We got into a huge argument and I decided to finally quit. At least Hayes was home from his tour now. It had been hard with him gone. I was always super bored. It's all good now though, cause he's home.

I opened up the front door to our shared apartment and walked toward the kitchen. I placed the grocery bags on the island in the kitchen and turned on the lights. I opened up the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water before putting the items I had bought away.

Something's not quite right... Hayes would've come to see me by now... Maybe he went out..

I grabbed an apple and my water and went into the sitting room. I turned on the television and curled up on the couch. I decided to watch Baby Daddy. It was a rerun, so I wasn't really paying attention to what was happening. I heard a loud bang from upstaris. What the heck was that?

I stood up and placed my apple core and water on the coffee table. I crept up the staris slowly. My hands were shaking and my heart rate has sped up to three times it's normal pace. What was I supposed to do if someone was in fact in my apartment? I had no weapon and my phone was downstairs.

All of the lights were off making the setting even creepier. As if it wasn't bad enough... I rounded the corner and saw that there was a light on in mine and Hayes' room..

I could've sworn I turned the light out before leaving for work this morning... Maybe Hayes is home. Why wouldn't he have come to see me when I got home? Something is really wrong.

My hand started shaking as I reached toward the door nob. I grabbed it, trying to catch my breath and get my nerves under control. I opened the door slowly. I gasped. Hayes was making out with some blonde chick on our bed. She had her legs wrapped around his torso. Hayes moaned as she moved her hips.

"H-h-Hayes?" I questioned tears beginning to run down my face.

"Emily!" Hayes exclaimed standing up, "It's not what it looks like!"

I turned and walked down the stairs. I was sobbing now. How could he do this? I walked into the kitchen and picked up my keys and phone and turned around. Hayes was blocking my path way out of the kitchen.

"Hayes, move." I demanded trying to get out.

"No, you can't leave me. I love you." Hayes was crying.

"Really? That's rich. If you loved me you wouldn't have been making out with some chick while I was going through hell at work! Now move." I yelled trying to push past him.

"You don't understand. She made me."

"Hayes, you're in charge of what you do. You make your choices. Nobody can make them for you." I stopped trying to get past him.

He let his hands fall by his side. I took this chance and raced passed him and to the door.

"Emily, please?" Hayes begged chasing after me.

"Good-bye. Have a nice life." I opened the door and walked out.

I got into the car and pulled out. I waited at the bottom of the driveway for a moment expecting Hayes to run out after me and keep me from leaving. He didn't. Yeah you love me, huh?

Hayes' POV

I opened up the front door and ran out onto the porch. I was to late the love of my life was gone. I fell to my knees and cried. Laura came walking out the front door wrapped in Emily's robe.

"I had fun." She said licking her lips.

"Well, isn't that great." I sneered standing up.

"She's not worth it. You have me now." She placed a manacured hand on my shoulder.

"You're the reason she's gone!"

"I've done you a favor. Now let's go finish what we started."

"Get out!" I walked inside closing the door behind me.

I fell onto the couch and cried. What was I going to do? The one and only person that I had ever truly loved was gone.and hated me.

Emily's POV

It had been a month since I caught Hayes and the blonde. I had not entirely forgiven him but I knew that everything happens for a reason and something good will come out of this. My best friend was kind enough to let me stay with her until I found another job and place.

My phone rang. I looked at the caller ID. It was Hayes...again.. I let it go to voice mail.

I laced up my running shoes and stood. I grabbed my water bottle and walked toward the door. I opened it up and stepped outside.

It was cloudy and drizzling slightly. Just another day. Gosh I would love to see the sun.

I ran down the drive way and onto the sidewalk in front of the house. The cool rain water hitting my cheeks. My heart sped up as I jogged. I smiled at the familiar feeling of running. I hadn't ran since I broke up with Hayes, afraid that I would run into him. That didn't matter now. I was not going to let him ruin my life.

Hayes' POV

I ran down the street past Emily's friends house. Emily hadn't answered any of my texts or phone calls since we broke up. I can understand why.. I just wish she's let me explain. Hopefully I'll run into her.

I saw a familiar walk up ahead. I sped up.

As I got closer I was able ot recognize Emily. I grinned. Seems like fate was on my side today.

"Emily!" I called.

She turned and her eyes widened. "Hayes?" She sped up.

"Please, I understand if you don't want to talk to me. I just need to explain what happened a month ago. After I explain if you want me to, I'll leave you alone."

"Fine." She stopped.

Wow. I did not expect that to happen. Here goes nothing.

Emily's POV

Hayes began explaining, "Laura is my crazy ex girl friend. She was super protective and clingy which is why I left.--"

I interupted, "This is all fascinating but how does this affect me?"

"Let me finish. She showed up last night. I tried to make her leave. I did. She started kissing me and all I saw was you. I tried to stop her but she threatened to hurt you. I know the logical thing to have done was to call the cops for the threat, but I panicked. I am so so sorry, Emily." Hayes was crying now.

"I forgive you." I said hugging him.

"Really?"

"Yeah. I don't want to get back together yet... but I'm willing to try again soon."

"Thank you. I love you. I will never hurt you agian."

"I know." I turned and ran back down the neighborhood leaving Hayes alone.
