• Chapter Six : Red Flag •

[••• ––– •••]

"I don't understand." Pansy whispered to (Y/N) as she and the girl decided to hang out in the Ravenclaw common room. "You still agreed for him to walk you to classes?"

"It isn't big of a deal." said (Y/N) bluntly, looking up from her parchment where she was writing a letter for her parents. Around the table were crumpled papers that she discarded for being too distracted.

"It is!" Pansy whisper-yelled, trying to pinpoint something. "(Y/N), you two aren't together anymore. He broke up with you. Why would you let him walk you to classes?"

(Y/N) sighed, putting her quill down on the table.

"You don't understand, do you?" she said, slightly dejected. "It was a mutual break up —"

"It isn't mutual, and you know it."

"Alright, fine." (Y/N) rolled her eyes. "It might or might not be mutual. I didn't like the idea. I didn't want us to break up, alright. But I'm just being a good friend — or whatever I am to him. Did he want space? I gave it to him... And besides —" She pulled her wand and twirled it to dry her letter. "— I owe him a lot by leaving him at those times he needed me."

Pansy grumbled — in annoyance or whichever, (Y/N) didn't mind and continued working.

"That's not fair on your side." the Slytherin girl said and sat down beside the Ravenclaw girl. "Come on, (Y/N), think about it. E-everything he did in the past two years and all his s-stalkings, he deserved —"

"Don't tell me he deserved it." (Y/N) snapped, breathing heavily.

"(Y/N) — just listen." Pansy said. "It was scandalous. Whatever side you chose, what he did was unforgivable. Stalking you, murdering people because he was jealous — I swear, (Y/N), I would have done the same thing you've done, only a little earlier to avoid more damage."

(Y/N) glared at the innocent wall, feeling extra mutinous than she ever had felt.

"Are you blaming me?" she asked coldly.

"What? No!" Pansy said, slightly panicking. "I was just saying that the treatment he was getting from you right now is excusable. You're doing right, and this 'walking you to class' thing isn't."

The Heather girl didn't reply and finished up putting her letter in an envelope.

It was quiet again. The only sound was the buzzing of other students around the common room. Pansy was silent too while she watched the Ravenclaw girl pack up her things.

(Y/N) was wondering whether she will get the same opinions from her other friends. She thought, if Pansy had thought about that, she was sure that Cho and Cedric will agree. Ginny will have the same line of thoughts, and so as Luna. Hermione would probably try to be rational but she, (Y/N), knew, deep inside the Head Girl's heart that she was agreeing to Pansy. Blaise and Ron wouldn't want to say their opinions but she was also sure that they will not go against their girlfriends. And Draco, well, he will definitely agree at once and might even tell his own opinions about it.

She was not sure to herself if she was doing the right thing. Sure, it isn't big of a deal for her, but if she thought about it thoroughly, it really was a big deal.

Sighing, (Y/N) stood up and slumped herself on the couch, with Pansy following almost immediately.

"I hate it, Pansy." she admitted weakly. "I hate how I still didn't want to be away from him. I still want him to be mine... But —" She closed her eyes and imagined Harry being happy with someone else. "— I don't know, I don't want to see him with another girl."
