"So, are you and Ron a thing now?" (Y/N) asked eagerly, her scarf tightened around her neck.

She and Hermione spent the whole first day of January, year 1996, in the courtyard, in where the cold Christmas presence slowly drifted away. The snow that they used to play slowly vanished and turned into moist upon the grasses. The two girls found a snow-free tree in front of the Black Lake, where they sat down while talking about things.

"Yeah. You could say that." said Hermione sheepishly. A blush was creeping on her cheeks.

"Well?" said (Y/N), still eager to hear more.

"Well what?"

"Give me details!" said (Y/N). "How did he ask you out? What did you say? How did he react?"

Hermione stared at her Ravenclaw friend, apparently thinking whether she had the best idea to tell her about her and Ron. But well, what could she do now that she already mentioned it?

"It was last night, you know." started Hermione with a smile. "He asked me to go to the Astronomy Tower, apparently lured me in by saying that you and Harry were there, and wanted another soul to witness your date —"

(Y/N) bursted into a fit of blush at the pronouncement. She was sure that there was no date or whatsoever that happened the night before in Astronomy Tower with Harry.

"— of course, I thought I had it right to trust him. But, well..." she blushed, twirling the end of her bushy hair with her fingers. "He actually laid out a 'date' for us. We talked a bit about... some things and then, just suddenly, I think he just bursted out the courage, he asked me out. I said 'yes', and... that's it."

"That's it?" (Y/N) asked, sounding disappointed at the lack of happenings. "You didn't — er — kiss?"

"Erm..." Hermione hesitated, but by (Y/N)'s eager face, she sighed and said; "Er — yeah — a bit —"

But Hermione didn't have time to say any further as (Y/N) started screaming like a mad person. It was so loud that Hermione swore she heard someone from inside the castle leapt suddenly, from which she took sign of someone walking in or out of the castle.

"(Y/N), lower down your voice, will you?" said Hermione, frantically looking around them. "Someone might be listening!"

"Yeah, probably the Giant Squid." muttered (Y/N) excitedly. "So how was it? The first kiss?"

Hermione flushed in pink once more, this time, however, she was not looking embarrassed at all.

"It was... I don't know the perfect word but — great? Maybe... nothing could describe it actually." she said, smiling.

"I'm happy for you." said (Y/N), now sounding relieved and real happy. "Someone finally got the know-it-all Gryffindor girl."

"Shut up." said the Gryffindor girl with a wide grin plastered on her lips. Then, her grin turned into a smirk when she realized something worth chatting for. "How about you and Harry?"

"What about me and Harry again?" sighed (Y/N), raising her eyebrow.

The Gryffindor girl grinned at the Ravenclaw girl.

"I know you two aren't a thing..." she started. "But when is it?"

(Y/N) groaned and rolled her eyes. She stretched out her legs on the tree root, plucking out some of the moist grass below her.
