• Chapter Thirty One : Aftermath •

[••• ––– •••]

Being a twenty-year-old man held many responsibilities. Harry had gone and had the hang of it.

Two years of Auror training taught him to be patient with self-improvement, look at the world optimistically, and manage his time. Though he had loved his upcoming job, he couldn't help but want to go back when he was still a student.

He missed Hogwarts. He missed running around in the corridor, trying to sneak out in the middle of the night to meet up with his friends by the Black Lake. He missed the air of the grounds during a Quidditch match. He missed the late-night butterbeer down at the dungeon. He missed his cozy four-poster, the whole Gryffindor Tower in general. He missed the warm cuddles on his bed, silent whispers, and quick make-outs. He missed his friends.

Harry could conclude that the past two years were rough, with (Y/N) gone and his other friends going into their dreams and goals to achieve.

Ron, Draco, and Blaise attended Auror training with him, but they were designated to different stations so they barely meet each other in the Ministry of Magic. If they would, they could only greet each other with a friendly grin and pat on the shoulder before running to their superiors' offices or their designated stations.

Hermione returned to Hogwarts and began teaching History of Magic a few months after she graduated and received a letter from Professor McGonagall. She started working only a year ago. They hadn't met Hermione since then, and the only time they saw her was when Hogwarts' term was finished.

Pansy started working at the Ministry of Magic under the Department of Magical Law Enforcement on Improper Use of Magic Office. She was head of the office after being promoted only seven months after working there.

After graduating a year ago, Ginny entered the world of Quidditch and became a Chaser for Holyhead Harpies. Luna, on the other hand, became a Magizoologist, a wizarding naturalist.

Cho and Cedric were both happy together. They were busy planning their wedding, which was to happen in a few weeks.

(Y/N)'s work as an art consultant was thriving. She had worked hard and was even promoted to a higher position and salary. Two years in New York and she had money that could buy herself a house in London.

Harry's friends were becoming successful, and he was glad they were. Only sometimes, he wished he hadn't been a twenty-year-old man.

(Y/N)'s twentieth birthday was looming closer—which meant that she was coming home. (Y/N) had written Harry a letter through a Muggle post about her arrival in London three days before her birthday, clearly wanting to celebrate it with her family and friends. She told him that she had already given up her position in New York to someone else for her to go home and start a new life.

Harry was more than ecstatic. Who wouldn't? The love of his life promised to be back home for him. He couldn't keep his giddy feeling even as he went to the Ministry of Magic with the prospect of another day of hard training.

It was all right, he thought, greeting his superiors with a wide grin, I only had a few more weeks before finishing Auror training, anyway.

"Had a fine morning, Potter?"

Harry turned, bouncing on his feet, to face Peter Goodwin, the current Chief Auror. He held a cup of coffee in his left hand and his wand in the other.

"Yes, chief." said Harry, his grin didn't fade.

"Got a call from girlfriend?" said Goodwin, stirring his cup with his wand.
