"I don't see the need for this," I said with a tired sigh.
"Are you kidding me? You're going on a date with Alex who we've been shipping you with forever so it is a big deal!" Tiwa said from the phone and everyone agreed with her.
I was in Derek's house with my friends and my sister, my mum and grandma were hanging out in the living room while Tiwa and Hannah were on a group video call with us.
"So have you finally picked what to wear?" Hannah asked and I shook my head.
"Fifi wants to wear jeans so we're still trying to convince her otherwise," Emily spoke.
"Well I asked Alex and he said I should dress comfortably and there's nothing more comfortable than jeans," I told them.
"We just want you to wear something different for a change," Lauren said with a small smile.
"Look guys, Alex has seen me wearing so many clothes, gowns, jeans, my lazy day clothes and most of all, my hoodies so I don't think the clothes I wear will be a big deal."
"She's right, she could wear a sack and he'd still think she's the prettiest person in the world," Lauren said rolling her eyes but smiling.
"So it's settled? I can wear jeans?" I asked and before they could answer, Rosa barged into the room with a bag.
"I'm sorry I'm late guys." She said with a sheepish smile.
"Seems like you and Louis were having way too much fun." I teased her making her face turn to a deep shade of red.
"Not the point of anything but on our way here, Louis and I passed a boutique and I saw the prettiest top ever, I just had to get it." She gushed before bringing out a blue top.
It was a cropped off-shoulder top with long smocked sleeves, puffed shoulders and flare cuff with a sweetheart neckline and ruffled edges and even though I didn't want to admit it, I loved it as much as she did.
"This will go so well with the high-waist jeans and I have the perfect gold gladiator sandals to go with it." My sister added before getting up and going to her room to get what I assumed were the sandals.
"Come sit, I'll get started on your hair," Lauren said waving me over to the table in front of the dresser.
"And I'll get your makeup done," Rosa said and just as I opened my mouth, she quickly interrupted me,
"I promise not to go overboard."
I didn't have anything to say to argue with them so I just got up and sat down in front of Lauren.
"Perfect guys, let's keep this energy for their wedding day." My cousin said making everyone laugh.
About forty-five minutes later, they were finally done working their magic on me.
"I love this look, you look all dressed up but not too dressed up and you don't look like you tried too hard either, it's perfect!" Emily gushed.
I looked at the mirror and smiled at my reflection.
The hair complimented my eyes and the gold necklace Alex got me for my birthday sparkled from its spot on my chest.
"Thanks guys, I love it. I'm glad I got to wear jeans too," I told them.
