Christmas has to be the favorite holiday of about half the world’s population.
Well for those who celebrated it anyway but for me, it’ll always be my favorite.
We were currently in my Nana’s place. My family, Hannah’s family and her husband but since Tiwa’s family couldn’t make it, we couldn’t exactly call it the whole family.
Hannah’s mum, Tiwa’s mum and my mum were sisters with my mum being the middle daughter.
Grandpa died ten years ago.
He was my favorite person in the whole world and his death took a huge toll on me but it hit Nana harder so she had to live with Hannah’s family when he died.
She eventually decided to move on with life because she said grandpa would want her to do that so she moved back into the house and we came to visit her at every chance we got but Christmas was the one time we could all be together.
“I just can’t believe you’re pregnant.” Tiwa said excitedly to my sister.
I told her about it the day after I found out with my sister's permission of course and I literally had to shut her up when she started saying baby names. Let's just say she got overexcited.
We were talking to her family through video chat after dinner. Everyone was sitting in the living room catching up with everything.
“Well believe it baby.” Debby said with a smile of her own.
My parents had finally come to terms with the fact that their first daughter would soon be a mother after a week of not saying a word to her and now I knew my mum was more excited than my sister.
She just needed to get through the shock first and for my dad, we knew he’d be fine once the baby was born.
My dad has always been a sucker for babies and having his own grandchild would definitely do the trick.
Although he never stopped mentioning the fact that he’d kill Debby’s boyfriend if he ever laid eyes on him.
“I just always thought it’d be Hannah first.” Tiwa said again.
“Well we’re not exactly far behind.” Hannah said from beside her husband and all eyed immediately turned to her.
“You’re pregnant?” Nana asked with eyes full of expectation while Hannah’s face didn’t give anything away.
The room was so silent that you’d hear a pin drop and everyone waited eagerly for her reply.
Her face was immediately replaced with a broad smile and she nodded her head excitedly and I feared it would fall off.
“Oh my God!” Her mum screamed as she got up and hugged her daughter and son-in-law, “I’m going to be a grandma.” She said with teary eyes while squeezing them harder.
A series of congratulations was passed across the room and suddenly Hannah’s smile couldn’t be wiped off her face anymore.
I walked up to her and gave her a big hug.
“I’m actually not surprised considering the fact that you and your Damon almost had sex in front of me.” I told her with a smirk which she returned by wiggling her eyes.
“I’m happy for you sis.” I said with a huge smile.
“Thanks little one.” She answered patting my cheek gently.
“How far along are you?” My mum asked.
“Three weeks. We just found out on Sunday and I was dying to tell you guys. It’s the best Christmas gift ever.” She gushed.
