“Fifi are you ready? Your boyfriend is here!” My sister called from downstairs making me smile.
“In a minute!” I replied before applying my lipgloss and wearing my glasses.
I was feeling more confident going to school this morning and it was all thanks to my friends.
Yesterday when I got back home, I texted Alex and he came over almost immediately. We were watching a movie when I got a message from Emily to open the school’s page and when I did, Rosa was doing a live video.
She spoke about what happened and made everyone realize that they’d heard the wrong side of the story. She also told them that it was up to them which side they believed but if they messed with me, they would have her to deal with.
Lauren popped in and made a not-so-subtle shade at Brenda which made me laugh.
My parents wanted to take the issue up with the school authorities but I didn’t want it to drag so I begged them to let it go.
I grabbed my bag and made my way to the kitchen to see my mum holding out a brown paper bag.
“Here’s breakfast, you can eat it in the car.”
“What’s in it?”
“Sandwiches. Here’s a bottle of fresh orange juice too.” She said and handed me my water bottle.
“Thanks mum,” I said and gave her a peck.
“Have fun in school today sweetheart and if you need anything, give me or your sister a call. I love you.”
“I love you to mum,” I replied and made my way outside to see my sister talking to Alex in front of his car and as soon as they saw me, they both smiled.
“Hey baby sis.”
“Hey, when are you leaving?”
“Derek should be here soon so I won’t be here when you get back.”
“I can’t believe you won’t be here anymore.”
“You can come over anytime you want sweetie, you know there’s always room for you.”
“I know, I’m just really going to miss you being around,” I said before hugging her.
I was tearing up but I kept blinking because I’d promised myself I wasn’t going to cry knowing fully well that she’d do the same and probably wouldn’t leave if she saw me crying.
“I’ll miss you more. I’m going to call you every day so you can tell me everything that happens to you. I want to know every single detail.”
“Deal.”
We pulled away and as soon as I saw she was about to cry, I smiled at her.
“I love you, Debby.”
“I love you more little one. Now hurry so I don’t make you late.”
“Bye!” I greeted her and entered the car.
Alex was already in it so as soon as he saw me, he smiled.
“Hey babe, are you okay?” He asked and I nodded.
I opened the paper bag and handed him a slice of my sandwich and took one for myself so we could eat.
I took the last gulp of the orange juice as we pulled into school.
“You just shared your food with me.” He said as a matter of fact which made me laugh.
“Perks of being my boyfriend. Stick with me Alex and you’re going to eat a lot!”
I was getting used to calling him my boyfriend and if I said I didn’t like it then I’d be lying. It felt great to say.
