Friday was my second favorite day.
Saturday being my first.Friday meant I didn’t have to deal with the airheads in my stupid school for the next two days and I know that seems small but it was a blessing to me.
Emily was going to meet me in school as she was going to be a little late because of her appointment with her doctor so I had to go alone but I didn’t let that downside dampen my mood.
I grabbed an apple from the kitchen and walked out of the house and locked the door behind me before walking down the porch to make my way to the bus stop.
I placed my earpiece in my ear and allowed Post Malone's Goodbye to surround me as I walked.
I hadn’t walked for five minutes when I felt a car slow down beside me.
Now normally my first instinct would have been to run but Roseville which was a small town here in Minnesota was perfectly safe so the tendency of me being kidnapped was very little.
Plus I could scream loudly if I wanted to.
I decided to ignore whoever it was that was driving beside me but this person refused to move on with life as he or she continued to drive slowly and before long, they started honking which blocked out my song completely.
I yanked my earpiece from my ear and turned to glare at whoever it was when I stopped in my tracks.
I quickly regained composure as I started at a familiar pair of grey eyes.
“What do you want?” I snapped at him.
“Good morning to you too Glasses.” He said with an amused smile and I just scowled at him.
“What do you want? I don’t want to be late for school.” I said impatiently.
“Of course. Nerds are always early.”
“I'm not a nerd!”
“Of course you're not. You're a pretty nerd.” He said and his eyes widened at the realization of his words.
I felt my cheeks redden when he said pretty.
No-one ever called me pretty. They always called me a freak and I couldn’t blame them. I hid behind clothes that were twice my size and extremely large glasses.
I quickly composed myself before looking back at him.
“I can see you have nothing better to say so I’ll leave now.” I said and moved to place my earpiece back in when he honked loudly again.
I jumped at the sudden loudness and glared at him, “What the hell?!”
“I wasn’t done talking.” He said with a careless shrug.
“And you couldn’t have called me like a normal person?” I asked again and he just shrugged.
“What do you want?” I asked with a tired sigh knowing I couldn’t get rid of him easily.
“I’ve been living here for the past ten years, why am I just knowing that you live here. We live like ten blocks away from each other.” He said and I just stared at him.
“That’s because up until four days ago. You didn’t even know I existed so there’s that.” I said with a bored tone.
“Well now that we’re neighbors, we can be great friends.” He said with a wide smile and I had to do a double take.
He was gorgeous.
I quickly pushed all other thoughts away from my head.
“We’re not neighbors. We’re ten blocks away from each other and I don’t even want to be your friend.”
