As soon as we got to Alex’s house, I all but jumped out of the car, running into the house like someone that had hot coals under her feet.
“What happened?” I asked no one in particular as soon as I got into the house.
Vee was pacing around with a worried look on her face while the twins were sitting with a frown and trying so hard not to look like they were about to cry.
Justin looked like he had run his hand through his hair countless times and was mirroring Vee’s actions.
“He just disappeared. Joshua has been driving around to different places he might be but it's been unsuccessful.”
“Why did he disappear?” I asked again in a desperate tone.
I was getting really worried because I’d texted Alex countless times and called him but my calls weren’t going through.
“He met Dad’s family in the hospital,” Zoe said softly and I turned to look at her.
Lauren was sitting between her and Zack and had her arms around each of them.
“He didn’t know that his dad got married after he left and that he has kids too. I saw the look of heartbreak on his face before he left and it was killing me. My poor baby is probably blaming himself for everything again, we were just moving past it.”
“How come he didn’t know about your dad’s family?” Emily asked them.
“Alex has refused to see Dad since he came back. The last time he saw my dad was on Christmas and he left the house angrily. Dad said we shouldn’t tell him, that he wanted t do it himself but Alex never gave him the chance to.” Zach answered her this time around.
“Why were you in the hospital?” I asked with a confused look while trying to piece everything together.
“He had a heart attack and was rushed down there. Alex got the call and ran down there but when he saw Michael’s family, he left.” Vee answered before going back to tapping her phone frantically.
“Do you have any idea where he could be? We’ve searched everywhere we can think of and he’s not there.” Justin asked and I nodded softly.
“I think I know where he is,” I said making all eyes turn to look at me.
“He’s taken me somewhere quite a few times and I think that’s where he went to.”
“What are we waiting for? Let’s go get him then.” Zoe said getting up but her mum shook her head.
“I don’t think that will be necessary. I believe he showed the place to Fifi for a reason so she should go to him,” she turned to look at me, “Please bring my baby home.”
“I will Vee. I’ll call you as soon as I see him to let you know he’s okay.”
“Do you need a ride?” Lauren asked and I nodded at her with an appreciative smile.
She stood up and we walked out of the house together.
The car ride was quite apart from when I broke it to give her directions while I kept texting Alex continuously and hoping he’d reply.
Me: Please tell me you’re okay.
Me: Please don’t hurt yourself
Me: I’m worried about you.
Me: I know what happened. I’m coming to you.
Me: I love you, Alex.
“I hate his dad sometimes,” Lauren said making me look at her.
