My Monday started off as a normal day and for once I was grateful since I hated Mondays so much.
I grabbed my book for my next class when I felt a presence beside me. I held back my eye roll as I closed my locker to see three girls standing in front of me.
One of them being Barbie— Brenda Lopez and her ever present escorts, I wondered if they ever got tired following her around all day.
She was dressed in a black tight-fitting skirt which was too short to be eve allowed in the school and a pink halter neck top that let her fake boobs pop out with black pumps.
Yes her boobs were fake.
She wasn’t exactly quiet when she was going to go through her surgery.
I looked behind her to see Becky and Tracy dressed in a similar way.
“How can I help you guys?” I asked in a bored tone as I stared at face which was covered by heavy makeup.
I wonder how she had time to do that in the morning. I just got up and threw in whatever I saw this morning while leaving my hair in the messy bun state.
“-you know you have a lot of guts.” I heard her finish and snapped out of my daze just to realize that she had been talking to me.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t paying attention.” I told.
“Ugh! I don’t understand what he sees in you. You’re so…so…” She struggled for words.
“Boring?”
“Plain?”
Her minions added for her.
“You’re so you!” She screeched finally.
“Well I’ve been called worse and I’m sorry but I don’t understand what you’re talking about.” I told her but I had a close idea.
“I’m talking about my boyfriend you freak! Stay away from him!” She barked at me.
“And who’s your boyfriend?” I asked her with a more confused look which seemed to fuel her anger towards me.
“Alex! Jesus I knew you were dumb but I didn’t know it was this bad.” She screeched.
“Actually Brenda she isn’t dumb, she’s one of the top students in the school.”
“Shut up Becky! I didn’t ask you.” She snapped which caused her to shrink back.
“Look, I’m not trying to steal your boyfriend,” I made air quotes around the boyfriend, “so if you don’t mind, I don’t what to be late for Algebra.” I told her and walked towards my class.
To say I was pissed was an understatement, that wasn’t in the mood for early morning confrontations and meeting her was definitely not on my agenda.
I messaged Emily to meet me during lunch and walked into my algebra class.
I was pretty early so I took a seat in the middle to avoid the attention of the teacher.
I brought out my note and tried to catch up on the exercise for today when felt a pair of eyes beside me.
I turned to see Louis staring at me.
“Hi.” I said timidly.
“Hey Fiona. How are you?”
“I’m good. I didn’t know you take advanced classes. You don’t strike me as the nerdy type.”
“We all do actually.” He told me with a small smile.
