Chapter 39

On our way to Joshua’s house, I couldn’t stop tapping my leg nervously and when Emily shot me a glare for the fifth time, I finally managed to calm down for a while.

I couldn’t help but think about how I made everyone worried by ghosting them.

Emily blamed herself, Justin blamed himself and I felt like everyone might have felt responsible for me and the fact that I got hurt might have made them feel bad.

“Okay girls, text me if you need me to pick you up.” Aunt Rachael told us as soon as she stopped in front of Joshua’s house.

“We will mum. Thanks for dropping us off.” Emily said before getting out of the car and leaving me with her mum.

“Deep breaths honey, don’t overthink it. Your friends love you and I’m sure they’ll forgive you.” She said turning back to look at me.

”You think so?” I asked nervously.

“I do.”

I gave her a small smile and nodded.

“Thanks, Aunt Rachael.”

“Anytime honey. I’ll see you guys later.” She told me and I nodded before getting out.

Emily smiled at me before squeezing my hand softly.

“You’ve got this.” She told me with a smile and I nodded.

I heard someone shout and turned to see Rosa running towards me with a huge smile on her face.

“Oh my God, it’s her!” Lauren said running closely behind her and before I could get a word out, I was squeezed in a tight hug by the both of them and I couldn’t help but laugh.

“It’s so good to see you.” Rosa said pulling away and looking at me. Her green eyes were shining and there was so much joy in them.

“You look well.” Lauren said with a smile of her own.

“I missed you guys.” I confessed which made them hug me again.

“We missed you too.” Rosa replied.

“More than you can imagine.” Lauren finished.

“I heard Fifi’s name and I heard her voice. Where is she?” I heard Justin shout and pulled away to see him walking fast towards me. His cast was off but he had a slight limp in his steps.

“Hi, Justin.” I said with a small laugh.

He wrapped his arms around me tightly and lifted me off the ground.

“Fiona! I missed you so much.”

“I missed you too Justin but I also need to breathe.” I said making him put me down and release his hold on me slightly, still holding me.

“If you ever leave me again, I’m going to hunt you down and make sure you can never leave again, do you hear me?” He asked and I nodded with a huge smile.

“It’s so good to see you again and you smell so nice.” He said hugging me again and sniffing me.

“Thank you.” I chuckled.

“Let her go already man, it’s my turn.” Joshua said and I turned to smile at him.

“Hi, Joshua.”

“Hey Fifi.” He greeted me before hugging me.

“Happy birthday.” I told him and I felt his laugh through his chest.

“Thank you pretty girl. I’m so glad you could make it.” He said before pulling away.

I stared at my friends and I could feel my eyes tear up.
