I gave her a look like she had suddenly grown an extra head.
I wanted to believe she was joking or that I’d heard her wrong but the look on her face made me know that it was neither of what I was thinking.
“What?” I asked dumbly hoping she would saw something else but I was wrong because she repeated the same thing.
“You think or you know? Why would you even think of such thing?” I asked her again with panic in my voice.
“I’m not sure if I am but I’ve been having the symptoms not to mention the fact that my period is a week late.” She said frantically before reaching into her bag.
I watched her as she pulled five different boxes and when I took a closer look, I realized that they were pregnancy test kits.
My brain instantly went into panic mode but I didn’t to freak her out so I just took a deep breath before looking at her again.
“Did you and Joshua decide not to use protection because I don’t understand what’s going on.”
“I took the morning after pill and he used a condom.” She said and I wanted to cringe at the image of my friends having sex that was forming in my head but I was too panicked to do that.
“Well it obviously didn’t work.”
“You think I don’t know that?” She asked raising her voice which made me move back slightly and as soon as she noticed, she frowned.
“I’m so sorry Fiona, I’m just really freaking out now.”
“Its fine, I understand and sorry for making it worse. Why don’t you take the test and we’ll know what to do from there hmm?” I told her in a calmer voice and she nodded.
“I’ll be right outside.” I told her before opening the door and walking out of the bathroom.
“Is everything okay?”
I looked up to see Dylan with a worried look and I gave him a small smile.
“It will be.”
“I hope you guys figure it out. I’ll be in the living room if you need me.” He said and I gave him a grateful smile before he walked away.
The sound of the door opening caused me to look at Lauren and I could see the fear written all over her face.
“It says to wait for two minutes.” She said and I nodded before sitting down on the floor to which she joined me.
“What are you going to do if it’s positive?” I asked her softly and she was quiet for a while.
“I honestly don’t know. My parents will be so disappointed and I’m obviously not ready to be a mum and I seriously doubt Joshua knows the first thing about being a father.” She finished with a small laugh and I just gave her a small smile.
“Are you going to tell him?”
“I can’t do that to him. He has his whole life ahead of him with his football career and all—”
“So do you Lauren. It takes two people to have a child you know so if you end up being pregnant, the child will be yours as much as it will be Joshua’s.”
“What if he doesn’t accept it. I won’t blame him.” She said with a deep frown.
“Well no matter what happens, you’ve got me, Rosa, Alex, Justin, Emily and do I need to keep going?” I asked her and she shook her head with a smile.
“We’re here for you Lauren, I’m here for you and I seriously doubt the fact that Joshua will leave you to do it alone.” I told her and she hugged me tightly while sobbing into my shoulder.
