Justin turned and smiled at him while I just avoided eye contact before taking my former position on the stool.
“Hey man! You came just in time. Fiona needed a hug but I'm sure if you ask her, she'll say I was the one that needed it.”
He was quiet for a while before I heard him walk up to stand beside me.
“Hey.” He said gently and I gave him a glance before looking away.
“Hi.”
As if Justin could sense the tension between us, he spoke up again.
“So did you come alone?”
“No I didnt. Rosa drove so she should be on her way up.” He answered while Justin just nodded.
Just when the silence was about to be awkward, the door opened to reveal Rosa.
“Fifi! Oh my God I was so worried about you yesterday. Alex said you werent feeling too well, are you better now?” She said all at once and I smiled at the look of worry written all over her face.
“I'm much better now, thanks.”
“I'm glad. I wanted to call last night but we left the hospital really late and I thought you'd be asleep already.”
“It's fine, you were all worried about Justin so I understand.”
“It wasn't exactly necessary, as you can all see, I am very much okay.” Justin spoke up which made his sister glare at him.
“Exactly how long are you going to keep this going?”
“Don't start with me Rosalyn.” He said in a firm tone which made me frown.
I had never heard him call her full name before so it sounded weird to me.
“You can fool the world but you cant fool me.” She shot back at him.
They held each others gaze before he let out a sigh and massaged his forehead.
“I do not have the strength to argue with you today. Where's mum and dad?”
“They had a meeting but they'll be here later.” She told him and he nodded.
“I brought you breakfast because I figured you might not like hospital food.”
“Thanks sis.” He said with an appreciative smile and she nodded before moving to his other side to set up the food in his bed table.
And just like that they were back to being best friends like they didn't just have an argument two seconds ago.
The feel of Alex's hand on my shoulder caused my attention to move from the twins to him.
“Can we talk?” He asked softly and I just nodded.
“I'll save some food for you guys, there's enough to go round.” Rosa said and we nodded in reply.
As soon as we got out of the room, he turned to look at me.
“Do you know anywhere we can go?”
I thought about it for a while before remembering the place I used to go to when Ethan was asleep just to be alone.
“I do.”
I led the way as we got on the elevator to go to the rooftop in silence, the sound of everything going on in the hospital was the only thing we could hear.
As soon as we got to the roof, the elevator door opened and I smiled at the familiar scenery in front of me.
There was a garden with beautiful flowers planted around and unlike before when there was only one bench, it had like five in different places.
