I woke up with a bad feeling at the pit of my stomach and I prayed that nothing bad happened because things were just starting to go well and I wasn’t sure I would be able to handle something bad happening again.
I walked into school with music blasting through my earphones, completely ignoring the world around me.
The guys had a game today so they were in high spirits and the school was buzzing, I didn’t need to hear them to know they were hyped about the game.
I walked to my locker to see Brenda and her minions standing in front of it which just caused me to roll my eyes. I was about to turn and walk away when I heard her call my name.
The music I was listening to just ended so I was able to hear her. I wanted to pretend I couldn't hear her but I knew she wouldn't let it go.
“I can see you Evans.”
I turned to her with a fake smile on my face.
“I know you can, I’m just just interested in having a conversation with you.”
“Well then you listen while I talk.” She said before walking up to me.
“I see your minions are nowhere to be found, did they finally realize who you really are and dump you?” I asked her before removing my earphones from my ears.
“They can’t dump me, instead I’ll dump them.” She said folding her arms and glaring at me.
“Wow Barbie, not only are you a horrible person, you’re also a horrible friend. I seriously doubt you know what the word means.”
“I don’t care about what you think.”
“What do you want then?” I asked her in a bored tone.
“I see you didn’t get the hint about leaving Alexander alone.”
“And I see that you didn’t get the hint of me ignoring you.”
“I’m warning you Evans, you’re bad news and if you know what’s good for you, you’ll leave Alex and his friends alone. The world was better off when no one knew you existed and now you think you’re suddenly all that because you’re getting attention from him but trust me, he’ll get bored soon enough.” She finished with a sinister smile.
I wanted to act like her words didn’t have an effect on me but it was starting to be a difficult task so instead, I focused on getting my breathing right so I didn’t get another panic attack.
“Oh come on, don’t tell me you’re about to pass out again. I guess you’re all bark and no bite huh?” She taunted me again.
I opened my mouth to reply her when I was interrupted by another voice.
“You know for someone who never dated Alex, you’re really doing the most.”
I turned around to see Rosa and Lauren behind me and let out a breath of relief.
“You’re really persistent you know, makes it hard for me to like you but then again, I’ve always known you were a fake person.” Lauren said again before walking to stand beside me while Rosa stood by my other side.
“I see you have people fighting your battles because you’re too scared to fight them on your own.” Brenda said to me again.
“You see that’s where you’re wrong. We’re her friends. I’m not sure you know what that means so you should probably look it up on Google or something. Friends help each other from people like you.” Rosa said before taking a sip of her drink.
