Chapter 22: The Monster Within

Valentine's day truly was turning out to be the best day of Amelia's life. She and Jacob walked back to her house and put on another movie. They debated what to put on as they both wanted to watch the other's favorite movies. In the end, they picked The Black Cauldron.

"Hey, Jacob?" She walked tilting her head upward so she could see his face as her head was resting on his chest.

Jacob moved a bit of her hair behind her ear. "Yes, my perfect Valentine?" he asked

Amelia grabbed his hand and said "Thank you. I just wanted to say thank you. Yesterday was well, crap. But today is an amazing day. How did I get so lucky to have you?"

He helped her up so he was looking into her eyes. "Believe me, I'm the lucky one. You do so much for the ones you care about and never ask for anything in return. You are so amazing." Amelia leaned in for a kiss but the phone rang.

"Sorry." she told him with a kiss on the cheek as she went to the phone. "Gold house, how can I help you?" she asked.

"Amelia? I hate to bother you on such short notice but I have to run out for a while and I need you to watch Henry." Regina told her.

Making a small face, Amelia replied "Of course, I'm always happy to watch my favorite kid in Storybrooke. I will be over in five minutes." She hung up the phone and looked at Jacob. "I gotta go, Sweetie. I have to watch Henry for a little while. I will call you when I'm done." She walked over to the door where she left her purse and shoes.

Jacob walked over to her and put on his coat. "Well, let's go then. You can't get rid of me today. Plus it was fun hanging out with you guys. Henry even told me about your top-secret game." he laughed a bit as he held out her coat for her.

Henry, what did you do? Amelia thought as she asked "What game? It feels like we play so many."

Jacob opened the door for her as he said. "Oh, the one where you were making people in town people in his book. He said he was the narrator but everyone else are fairytale people. That was a great trick to get him to read more. Making him pretend they were people around him."

Amelia laughed and smiled "Yep you got me. And now Henry reads so much. But don't tell anyone about our game. Like Henry said to him it's top secret. He would be so upset if he knew someone told about it."

He made a little 'X' over his heart "I won't tell anyone. Now let's go. The sooner we get there the sooner we can get out and carry on with Valentine's day."

The couple walked up to the door and knocked. Regina opened the door and walked outside. "Thanks for coming so soon. I will pay you for this next time. I'm in a bit of a hurry. Bye Henry!" she called inside before she got in her car and drove off.

"Lia!" Henry yelled running to hug his sister.

She picked him up and said "Hey bud. I hope it's alright if Jacob hangs out with us for a bit. We were hanging out together before your mom called."

Henry glanced at him before saying "Duh he can stay. I knew it was Valentine's Day but mom didn't remember. If you want I can just go to my room and you guys can chill."

Jacob shook his head. "No way. Lia loves hanging out with you and so do I. So what do you want to do? I don't know the normal routine yet with you guys."

Henry mumbled "Muggles," as Amelia set him down. She let out a laugh but tried to cover it up.

"What?" Jacob asked as he saw them both smile knowingly.

"Nothing Jacob. So what do you wanna do Henry?" Amelia asked him.

Henry thought for a moment before saying "How bout we play a game? We like doing that." Everyone nodded in agreement and Henry brought out Clue.
