Chapter 32: pointless break in

 Amelia parked her car outside Henry's house and knocked on the door. She could hear Henry running down the stairs before he threw open the door and gave her a hug. "Lia! It's been forever since I've seen you."

She hugged him back as she told him, "Hen, it's only been a week. But yeah it does feel like forever. Now you said you got new Operation Cobra news for me? Who wants to go first? I still owe you the story about what happened last weekend."

He let her inside and he sat on the kitchen counter while she made them each a cup of hot chocolate. "You can go first, sis. I feel like yours is gonna be more of a story." he responded as she handed him his mug. She explained that she and Emma found him on the side of the road, they brought Jefferson home, he drugged the tea, locked them away, she broke out of the room, found him and Emma, and he fell out the window and disappeared.

"And then we raced back to the station to get Mary Margaret back in time. I went back later in the week to take his hat back to his place. It was still in my car." Amelia finished as Henry drained the last bit of his hot chocolate.

"Wow! That's crazy, was Jefferson scary? He seemed like a really cool guy in the book." Henry asked her excitedly to know more about Alice's best friend.

"No he wasn't," she told him after a moment. "He is very complicated and lonely. While I was tied up in Grace's room, we had a very real talk. I told him once the curse broke I would help him reconnect with his daughter. I said I would go back and tell him what is going on with the curse every month. I felt so bad for him, the man was alone for twenty-eight years, seeing his daughter with another dad. He thought he was the only one awake. He was so relieved that there were others awake and the dreamers."

Henry gave her a puzzled look and asked "What are the dreamers?"

She smiled and told him, "That's us Henry, and I guess Emma and Archie. The ones who know about the curse but aren't awake. The number of people who could be helpful for Operation Cobra is getting big. We got you, me, Emma, Archie, Matt, August, and now Jefferson. But enough about my story, what's your news? Why did I have to rush over so soon?"

Henry lit up as he told her, "Emma found part of a shovel where the heart was buried and tracked it down to the queen. She proved that she did everything but mom got a new shovel before Emma could bust her. I heard she had a big fight with August and then something happened with Sidney."

"Wait, Sidney Glass? What's he got to do with this?" Amelia asked him, confused.

"Oh, he was helping Emma find something on mom but it never worked. He was working with the queen the whole time. Anyways this is the best part. After her fight with August, they made up, I think and they heard a scream from behind Granny's. They ran over and there was Ruby and Katherine! She is alive, Mary Margaret didn't kill her!" he yelled as he finished his story.

Amelia was shocked. 'Katherine was alive. Someone made the best frame job ever to get Mary Margaret arrested.' "There is gonna be a welcome home party for her tonight. The whole town is invited except for mom."

"Even matt? No one really likes him. Are you su-" she was cut off by the phone ringing.

Henry jumped off the couch to pick it up. "Ya I'm here, what's up?" he said to the person on the other end. "You got it! I'm with Lia, can she come? I know she can be helpful. Sounds good see ya!" he hung up and turned to his sister. "Come on, Operation Cobra mission, august is gonna meet us there." he walked to the door and started putting on his classic coat and scarf.

"August? What does he need help with for Operation Cobra? Isn't his job getting Emma to believe? In case he didn't know, we aren't doing good with that." she told him getting on her stuff as well. "Where are we going even?"
