"Is she waking up?" someone asked. Amelia's eyes fluttered open. She blinked past the harsh lights above her. Standing around her were Matt, Henry, Jacob, and a doctor. "How long?" was the first thing Matt asked her.

Amelia tried to sit up and felt a sharp pain in her side, something she was far too used to. She laid back down. Henry walked over and held up a glass of water with a straw. "Thanks," she managed as she took a sip. After a moment she asked "What happened?"

Jacob gave her a hurt look. "We were hoping you could tell us. All we know is Steve-" Jacob couldn't put the action into words. The scene kept replaying in his head. Amelia didn't even flinch when he brought out a blade.

"Henry?" Regina called looking for her son. She walked into the room stunned. Amelia was hooked up to various machines looking like a nightmare. "What happened here?" she asked, walking over to hug her son. He took a step closer to Amelia holding her hand. "I will explain later," Matt said. "If you could take the boy home. He refused to leave her side."

"I want to stay with Lia." told his mother. "Don't make me go. I don't want to be with the Evil Queen." he whispered in her ear. Last month Mary Margaret, his teacher, gave him a book of fairytales. Henry believed everyone in Storybrooke was a person from the Enchanted Forest.

"Henry how about this, go with her now and you can come back tomorrow? Deal?" Amelia whispered to Henry. He nodded, grabbing his backpack.

"Feel better." Regina told her as they left. Amelia turned to the doctor "Can you tell me what happened doctor-?" he turned to her "I am Dr. wales. Your friends brought you in with a stab wound. We gave you surgery. You were lucky the blade didn't pierce anything important. If it was a couple of inches over you might not be here right now. It was hard with the large scar around the area. How long have you had that scar?"

Amelia closed her eyes, not wanting to look at anyone. "I'm not sure. The best guess I can give you is a couple of months before Henry got here." Matt connected the dots, she had been breaking since she got to storybrooke. When they first got here her eyes were full of light and love, now they were empty. She had gotten stabbed for the first time twenty eight years ago.

"Can I get you anything?" Jacob asked her. "I'm alright, I just want to be left alone right now, to rest." he nodded and left. Dr. Wale glanced at Matt. "She needs rest." Matt sat down in a chair. "I will make sure she gets her rest."

He left and Amelia turned to her uncle, unable to look him in the eyes. "Who did this? How long has it really been going on? Why didn't you tell me?" a tear slid down her face, not able to move her arms as they were tangled in wires and tubes. Matt walked over and whipped it off her face. "Why didn't you come to me, Amelia?"

"I don't know. It started with just a little scratch. Something I could handle. They had been bullying me for years. I had always been able to handle it. It just started growing and I didnt know how to tell you!"

"May I look at it?" he asked. Amelia nodded as he lifted up the hem of the shirt they put her in. He had seen a lot worse things, he caused a lot worse things but none of them affected him as much. He had really grown to care for her over the years. He had seen her shatter before his eyes and now he knew why.

"Who has been fixing you up? Did you tell anyone?" he asked, looking into her eyes. "I had been cleaning myself up afterwards. No one knew about it. That was the plan. No one would ever know. I'm so sorry, I should have come to you. I was just scared." She looked out the window to see the big clock in the center of town. "Who did this? You have been saying them so I want to know who."

"Four kids from school. Steve Hunter is the ringleader, his best friend Zack along with their girlfriends did this. Can you find me some food?" her uncle smiled seeing a bit of relief and joy come to her eyes. He knew all too well what keeping secrets will do to you.
