Ashton's POV
Monday, actually one of my favorite days. I stopped and got coffee on the way to the school and now I'm here organizing everyone's assignments today.
My heart was racing at the thought of seeing Luke again, knowing that in meer weeks he would be gone from the world.
I had to stop thinking like that. The more I thought about it, the more tears flooded my eyes.
Students started walking in and I was so happy each and every one of them looked energetic and healthy. It was all I wanted for each of my students.
I saw Michael walk in with Luke, both of them eating candy from the bag. I felt my eyes practically pop out of my head watching Luke eat watermelon gummies.
"Hey, Mr. Irwin! Is it okay if we keep our candy? We bought it on the walk her-"
"Of course! Go ahead! Make sure to eat breakfast with it too, okay? I don't want you all getting stomach pains!"
"Of course!"
They both sat next to each other and got their desks prepared for the day while chatting and enjoying their candy.
I couldn't believe it, I was pinching myself a bit. Maybe Luke decided the hospital was too much and I completely understood that. He probably wanted to be home with family and friends, maybe that influence got him to choose recovery.
Breakfast arrived and I watched as Michael helped Luke go up and get theirs.
Luke smiled at me as he went back to his desk, I proudly smiled back at him.
"You okay? Take it easy, Lu. I know it's fear foods and all."
Michael spoke to Luke, keeping his hand on Luke's shoulder to show support.
"Life is too short for fear foods.."
Luke said as he took a bite of his food. I felt tears fill my eyes again, this time with pure joy. He was choosing life with every single bite.
It wasn't long, he barely finished half of it before he leaned back in his seat.
"I'm really full.."
"That's all right, you did good either way! I bet your body is raving in joy after being fed!"
Luke laughed and nodded, looking down at his stomach.
"Definitely looks like it.."
Michael smiled at him and patted his shoulder.
"Be proud of yourself, you're doing fucking great."
"I am, especially after this weekend. I never thought I could do this.."
"I know! I was so happy I cried myself to sleep knowing you were tryna live again."
"Don't cry, that's my job during this!"
I listened to them talk and with every sentence Luke spoke, I heard purely Luke, not his disorder. He was doing so good on his own with support and I had just as much faith in him as I did from the hospital.
"What do I do if I get bloated again?"
Luke whimpered as he held his stomach. Michael looked at me and back at Luke.
"One sec."
Michael got up and went infront of my desk.
"Hey, uhm.. If Luke feels sick at any time, can I take him to the nurse's office?"
I happily nodded, completely understanding that his body is trying to adjust.
"Of course. The nurse has heating pads for his stomach and medicines to give him. Don't hesitate to just leave with him if he does feel sick, okay?"
Michael beamed with an appreciative smile before nodding in understanding and left back to his desk.
"We can leave to the nurse's office if you feel sick at all. Just tell me, kay?"
Luke nodded and rested his head on Michael's shoulder.
"I wish I could eat more but I'm just full.."
"Lunch isn't for a few hours so don't worry about it. I also got more snacks if you feel hungry soon."
I didn't know what the universe did to bring Michael to Luke but I could tell his support was definitely gonna help Luke in the long run.
